We will be heading to the PCA breakfast and revealing the Macan to more fellow PCAers. While there we will also get to eat. ;). We will turn 200 miles on the drive. The restaurant is in Moore, OK and just 100 yards from the path of the last F5 tornado. All that damage is gone and there is no sign at all of the tornado damage. Just new buildings.

Thought you went to a PCA breakfast 2 weeks ago?

Didn't go to the 928 Breakfast in Dallas. After breakfast they are heading on a tour to some fancy car collection out in the middle of nowhere then some BBQ place for lunch.

Going to have to take some T3 and sleep. The eye drops the doc gave me to lower the pressure in my eyes cause by the anti-inflation drops he gave me after the surgery is making the whole left side of my sinuses, face, and teeth hurt horribly. And it's cumulative. After I stop it takes several days for it to get out of my system.

It's really weird. No hot or cold sensitivity. But I eat or drink something and my teeth start hurting about 5 minutes after i am finished not while I am eating. And it's not just one tooth on the top or bottom like a cavity or root canal. It's my whole jaw and my top teeth including my sinuses on that side. And the pain kind of moves around until it finally eases up. It's kinda like my brother with MS describes the trigeminal nerve pains he's been having.

I finally dug into the Suquinox brake issue this week. Our neighbor is the chief school bus mechanic for our district and he has a scanner for ABS systems. It told me that the RF sensor was bad. Replaced it and all is well again.

Now, I need to replace the coil pack. The engine hiccups some times at part throttle. I checked the fuel pressure and it's good.

If I go any more than 2 miles today it will turn over 150,000 miles.

I tell you, it IS nice only having one vehicle to work on. We got a recall notice for the Malibu Thursday. Wifey took it in yesterday and was back at work in just under an hour.

Yeah, I really liked driving the new BoxsterS. The dealer is just 3 miles from my house. If it had any sort of issue I could drop it off on the way to work. They would give me a Boxster loaner to drive. And I would drop by and trade back on my way home.

Sure hope I finally have the headlight issues on my Cayenne Turbo fixed now. Have replaced both headlight assemblies, the wiring harnesses, all the bulbs, and the headlight controllers with the xenon transformers in them. Had to get the controllers from Porsche because the car's computer wouldn't recognize the much cheaper OEM controllers.

Stijn!!

On the drive home we turned 240 miles on the Macan. I had 600 miles on my 914 in three days.

We got home and the Mrs decided I needed to dig two quick holes. But while we are in the mode I might as well trim on the tree and get some limbs down. So out comes the chain saw and a ladder. One of my favorite things is standing on a ladder cutting a limb that is 16 feet long.

That was so much fun and while I was already hot and sweaty (it is 79 degrees) I should just go ahead and edge and mow. So far so good the yard is edged and I am about to mow one notch lower than last time to get some dormant grass cut off to get the new shoots some sun.

Fun fun fun......

What a terrible thing to have a beautiful spring day outside and miss it due to pain med induced sleep.

I did leave the back door ajar so at least Pepper could enjoy it. However, every time I came to she was sleeping at my feet.

Well today is another pretty day. It will get a little warm for my tastes.

I will play in the garage and take the 911 for a drive.

I have the grocery shopping list from my grandparents first week of marriage in 1929. It is a long list and totals up to 12.5 cents but that was four days of wages back then.

My first week of living on my own I went to the grocery store since I had zero food in the apartment. I bought all the stuff my mom bought. Bacon and eggs bread and such. After several month the bacon looked kinda green and the eggs would rattle after 12 months. Of course I did buy some food I actually planned to eat. I can remember getting a shopping cart full of food for under $40 but I was only making $12,000 per year then.

Back at work on a Monday morning on the first day of spring. It will be summer heat today, 92 or so. Tomorrow is back to more seasonal temperatures.

Remember when I was a kid there was loaves of bread on the shelves and shopping basket full of day old bread for only 15¢ a loaf. Guess it is all at least day old now?

I worked with an old black man in Alabama. He was a real insight into another culture. He invited me over to his house for some possum. His recipe started with one possum of course, but evidently they are very fatty. His recipe's second big ingredient was at least two loaves of day old bread. They were way cheaper and soaked up more grease. You stuffed the bread in and around the possum and let it bake for a while, pulled that bread out and fed it to the dogs and than stuffed in more bread. If it was a big ol fat possum it might take three loaves.

I hope to never be so hungry as to try possum again.

He also would go fishing along the Alabama river. It was easy to catch a small fish he called sun fish that were the size of your hand. He would clean them of course but did not want to waste a morsel of fish meat. He would batter it and deep fry it whole, slap it between two slices of day old bread and bite in carefully. Then he would chew real slow and for 10 minutes pull a fish bone from his mouth. When he was done there was a little pile of fish bones left.

Knew how to properly scale and filet fish when I was just 5. Even knew to scale and gut trout and not filet them. A little later to skin and filet catfish. Sometimes we fished farm ponds instead of lakes. If you caught sun fish, blue gill, or perch whatever they were called too small to filet, you threw them back in and set your bobber deeper next cast.

Our local old black man fish stories were that they caught, pressure cooked, and ate carp. You pressure cook it to soften up all the teeny tiny bones.

Was camping with a church group. One father was supposedly and avid fisherman. They caught a nice sized bass. He cooked it up for a meal. He thought it was great. Just scaled it, didn't bother to filet or even gut it. YUK!!!

RKDinOKC 03-20-2017 06:15 AM

Spring Break!

Porsche-poor 03-20-2017 06:50 AM

YEP! we got hung up this year with one in high school and one in college, had to split it over two weeks.

RKDinOKC 03-20-2017 07:58 AM

My brother and his wife usually spend 3 weeks a summer either in Colorado or at the beach in Florida. One week with each of the 3 kids and their families. Guess with 6, 6, and 8 there are just too many grandkids to try to all go someplace at once and him spend much time with the grandkids.

Porsche-poor 03-20-2017 08:01 AM

our boys breaks are one week apart. The plan is to go to San Fran. We will only spend 1.5 days together as a family. out of 8
