We've been pretty dry since spring. Temps are great...as always.
|
With my office/home just a half mile from Glen's the weather is completely different. 72° all day long and hasn't rained a drop, inside.
Weather all wacked up rolly cuz a that Himacane playin Golf they talkin bout on the news. |
Morning all. One thing for certain we are doing better than those poor residents of south Texas. I know a few friends down there. It is gonna be a bad week, and a very long recovery.
|
Greetings Group.
One friend in the gulf lives on a boat. He and his wife have put the boat in a hurricane proof dock (if that actually exists), and went to San Diego. Another put his cars on lifts. He and his wife are visiting in CT. |
Hurricane resistant I can believe. Hurricane proof, nope.
A meter of rain, on top of a 12 foot storm surge with 145 MPH winds is going to be a challenge. It will depend on what that one spot his dock is on, and how well it really was engineered. I hope he has good luck. Last night they mentioned some building in one of the towns that had mandatory evacuations collapsed. There were people in the building, and the rescurers could not get to them. I hope the rescuers just stay safe until the storm has passed. It is stupid to risk their life trying to rescue people that were told to get the fu*k out of town. The mayor there said if you decide to stay, please write your name and SS number on your forearm with a sharpie so we can identify your body. |
Another beautiful day in SoCal. No hurricane in sight. Best wishes to all on the Texas Gulf coast. SmileWavy

I found one. Parked right next to it.

We had a beautiful day as well. High temp of mid 80s in August is just weird, but I like it.
My new color printer, scanner, fax, copier arrived. I will sell my old B&W laser printer to my partner's mom. That was easy. She has been wanting one that is just a stand alone printer that does not need a computer hooked to it. It will print right from her iPhone or iPad so she is happy. I made a color copy of a printout of my dyno run. It looks just like the original. I have not tried a photo but heck, I only have bond paper. I will setup my fax if I get bored someday. I need to play with scanning to a PDF and figure that out. It even has an OCR function. I will not be bothering with that. It is a Dell printer and has their "printer hub" that lets me scan a a document and put it on "the cloud" and I can't think of a time I would need that. Mrs Carrera just printed from her iPad so she is OK with it. |
Laser printers don't do photos nearly as well as the ink jets. If you use glossy paper the toner is NOT glossy so it looks kinda funky. Brother and his wife have a laser for fast and an ink jet for photos. His wife prints a lot of photos. When I got the brother multi-fuction laster I took a color photo and made copies with all the different color laster printers. The Brother was the closest without spending $4000-$7000 on a Xerox Imagesetter.
My niece has the right idea with photos. She puts them in iPhoto or I guess it's just called Photos now, and picks what she want's in an album, annotates everything with text, then uses the feature that uploads the album and prints it as a hard back book and they mail it to her. Their entire photo album collection is all those printed and bound hard back books. Looks fancy and colors will last longer than photographic prints or most ink jets. Made several attempts to get Mom to do that with all our family pictures. But she jest never got the hand of using the computer. Now her photo albums have been scavanged by my sisters. Don't understand it. Mom had photo copies made of all the stuff they wanted, but still went thru and took those same pictures from the albums whe she passed. They snuck off with the albums keeping me busy right after Mom passed. I was pissed when they brought them back about a month later minus the pictures they wanted, stupid $(@#$!es. There wasn't a photo in any of the albums they didn't already have that weren't exact copies of what was in those albums, including the writing on the back of who, when, and what they were doing. Mom had always told me those were for me because as she made them she had the copies made and sent them to my siblings. |
On the road again.....had a PCA cookout/ tour today. Man it feels good to be back behind the wheel of a 911 again.
|
Wondering if I will be able to drive the 928 to the GTG in Marble Falls TX in November.
|
You have a 928?:D
|
Cruel. Funny, but cruel.
|
Last time I looked it wasn't even in the shop.
|
Welp, the boxer wore that MMA fighter plum out. Think he planned it that way.
|
Oh man, both friends, the one with the cars on lifts and the one with the boat docked live in Rockport. Yikes.
Good think they had both skipped town. Waiting to hear how much their stuff got mangled. Rockport looks pretty badly hit. |
Morning all. My Houston friends were all confident they were safe and had planned ahead and were safe. I have not heard back from any of them. I don't know if it is lack of power, internet or they are just too busy. I hope they are all ok.
I hope to mow the yard today but it is humid and the dew was crazy. It is really moist out there and it has not rained in a couple of days. |
Stijn!!
Twelve feet of storm surge and feet of rain is hard to imagine.
The good news is we finally had a real clear day to fly a project, actually two. I have my computers cranking and making purdy pitchers. |
Dog hurricane refuge...
http://www.zipbang.com/Photos/dogfloodrefugee.jpg Pepper brings in all her own food and treats while I am bringing my groceries in from the Cayenne. |
Mernin.
It is Monday, but don't let that get you down. Act like it is Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thrusday. But not Friday. It would be bummer to get all ready for the weekend and have to go to work tomorrow. By the way, it doesn't help to start Monday with a frappuccino from Starbucks. But it is a fun when Pepper tells them "Hello" then "Good Morning." Hey just think she is making noises at them until good morning is completely different than hello. |
