The paint is pretty good, except the hood and two inspection covers on either side of the hood. They were repainted badly. I’ll probably have them repainted. I might as well toss on a rear spoiler and front air dam while I’m at it. :D

RKDinOKC 04-22-2018 07:16 AM

Gonna also do the headlight covers like this one...

http://www.automotiveaddicts.com/wp-...atsun-280z.jpg

What about the rear window louvers? That's what I remember about the first 280Z I saw.

Not many of the Z car pics google comes up with have spoilers or louvers.

One of the things I like about the later 928s is the wing instead of the spoiler lip.

RKDinOKC 04-22-2018 07:31 AM

Got my weekly electricy usage report today. usually use 13 to 15 kWh/day. But this past week is 6.5 on Tuesday, the 0 on Wednesday, 5.3 on Thursday, then back to my regular usage. I didn't do anything any different? Temperatures weren't that much different. The thing we had was the wind. Maybe my house thinks it's hooked up to a wind generator? Don't know how it got 0 kWh, but it says my bill will be $6 less for the next billing period.

Jim Richards 04-22-2018 09:37 AM

I’m probably not going to put those headlight covers on my car. Unlike the two Zs I previously owned, this car didn’t have louvers on it. I might add them later on, just to reduce the heat loading on the hatch glass.

RKDinOKC 04-22-2018 01:04 PM

Yeah, the 928 guys usually just tint the hatch glass. Has to be a really good job or it bubbles from the defrogger. All the glass on the 928 is at an angle so it gets sun, they call it the greenhouse effect. So most UV tint all the windows. For a while there was a company that made a set of sun shades like the one people get for their windshields that fit all the windows. No available no more.

If mine wasn't a garage queen, would have done the most UV with the least darkening. But since it pretty much lives in the garage unless driving, leave it with the stock tint only. Same on the Turbo even though I have a pic of on the same color as mine with the windows darkened and it looks good. Had the windows limo blacked out on my big GMC Jimmy. Could see nuthin at night.

Good Monday Morning!!!

And Yes, it is good.

Just announced the Human Resources Director that lied about me on the disciplinary report to try to get me fired is leaving the company!

Also the guy that stated he could not hear the conversation but still made false statements of what he thought I said... He is leaving to go into the ministry?

Would love to hear that HR chick that handles our medical insurance that called me saying I had to sign a form because they use foreskin for skin graphts sexual innuendo and stating I called it dead baby penis's is also leaving. In my opinion she has no business handling any sort of medical paperwork.

Dang, that work thing is getting in the way of Pelican time.

We have a client that wants us to provide files that are a mix of both meters, and feet and arc degrees. Whatever, I will try to get our program to spit out a file he is happy with.

Jim Richards 04-23-2018 09:05 AM

What, no AU, light-years, or parsecs?

GH85Carrera 04-23-2018 09:25 AM

It is silly the different measurements the program has. All sorts of crazy obscure ones like Brittish Chains (Sears 1922 Truncated) Clark's feet or Clark's Links, German Legal Meters, Indian yards, and others. For the projections we normally use the State Plane NAD83 feet of whatever state or area is correct. We have available really useful ones like Austrian Grid, Bipolar Oblique Conic West, Hammer-Altoff, Japanese Projection system or interplanetary Mars, or Jupiter. For some reason we have never flown a project on Mars. I am pretty sure the air it too thin to fly much less run an internal combustion engine.

The list is long and annoying to scroll through. I wish there was an option to not show them at all.

RKDinOKC 04-23-2018 10:11 AM

Since the Mars and Jupiter measurement systems exist, Bob would say that is proof there are people llving on those planets? Otherwise why would they need a measurement system. Probably use extraterrestrial crafts to take aerial photos. And they probably do it a night so we can't seem them flying around taking pictures, err uh, with special cameras and night photograohy.

Mornin' all. Supposed to get to 68* today. Last week it was snowing/sleeting/freezing rain.

Got the new brakes in Steve, the new battery in Mae and the oil changed in the Cobra. I need to take the Cobra for a good hard run. The plugs are getting fouled from not ever getting warm this spring. All I have done is move it in and out of the garage a few times. Never came up with a good name for that car.

Thank you Glen for listing all those measurement because I know have Pink Floyd "The Wall" stuck in my head.

I am pretty sure they (NASA) have all the planets mapped out, and of course the moon as well, and other planets moons. It is the only way to really use the satellite photos NASA has of them.

Mapping Texas is the most frustrating. They had several rail-roads come through and each one hired a survey company. They would pretty much spit on the ground, and say for this survey the world starts right here. Then some big rancher would come through and buy a lot of land and pay for a survey. Same thing, they just started their own unrelated to the others. Some sections of land run at a 45 degree angle to north, south, east west.

It has been modernized and the new systems are logical, but landowners that have had land in the family for generations might still use the old systems.

It is cool to see some of the original surveys of Oklahoma. Imagine a group of 30 to 40 men going into the Indian territory, no real law, no place to stop and get supplies. Several of them will have reports of men lost to Indian raids, or outlaws. Those guys were tough!

Now with modern equipment surveyors can get a point located down to a 1/10th of an inch in minutes.

Stijn!!

The mean boss decided I had to stop working and go mow the yard with the new mower. At least he did not make me have to fix the old mower first and mow with it.

I did drink a couple of his beers to cool off. It is pretty nice outside. 75 degrees, and clear skies with not much wind.

RKDinOKC 04-23-2018 07:23 PM

Did you wax that new mower?
Always waxed my new mowers at least once anyway.
Thought it made cleaning them easier.
My Troy Built rototiller looks pretty good for 40 years old.

Pepper got her yearly shots today so she's a sleepy girl.
There has got to be something wrong with that dog, she loves going to the vet.
Told the vet and his assist hello over and over until they said hello back to her.
Then she was happy as long as she was leaning against one of them looking up.
Laid on the table wagging her tail all thru the exam including shots.

Our current dogs have some quirks. We have a doggie door for them to use to get outside. The side of the house where the doggie door is has a 2 foot wide sidewalk and a 2 foot wide strip of grass the length of the house. Kinda like a dog kennel. We have a gate at one end so we can lock them into that area to keep them out of the main back yard if we deem that necessary, but 99% of the time it is open. The female will go out on her own and do her business, and then go to the back porch door and bark, like she is trapped on the back porch. If it is in the morning I go let her in to shut her up and not bother the neighbors. During regular daylight hours she will sit out there for a long time waiting to be let in. She could walk around the back of the house and come inside anytime, but she is playing little princess.

RKDinOKC 04-24-2018 06:26 AM

When I got my 2nd Golden, Camber thought she was really smart. At 7 weeks she was the only puppy already using the doggy door. Little did I know she was the Alpha dog of the group and was only using the doggie door because the big dogs were. She was completely house broken from day one though. With Pepper the weather was nice for the first couple of month so I just propped the back door open and she only used inside the house twice.

With my first Golden, Penny, we did not have a fence. She never left the boundaries of our yard except just once. He walked herself around the block staying next to the curb exactly like when Mom took her for walks. Both Camber and Pepper I have to use a leash to take them out front or they will go 3 or 4 houses down the street both ways. Penny moved here with us and stayed in our and the neighbors front yard despite the neighbors Dalmatian having run of the neighborhood.

I need to spend more time training Pepper.
Never had a dog that held a conversation with an owl before. Vet didn't know what to think of that either.

flipper35 04-24-2018 07:53 AM

Our lab used to be horrible on a leash. She hated any type of harness but could not or would not lead on a leash properly. She would pull, squirm, writhe but the last time we took her for a walk she walked on the leash with a harness like a normal dog. I think she was abducted and they reprogrammed the clone wrong. Or, the time before that we had her at the dog beach on a leash and she loved the beach.

The bagel is now awful on a leash. Maybe something got switched when they were beamed up together.

RKDinOKC 04-24-2018 08:07 AM

Used a method called Command Performance I think. It is for ultimately having your dog on a leash without the leash.

It is that one where you start out with a 20ft leash and just walk around making turns and ignoring the dog. You make sure to make abrupt turns and just drag the dog if need be. Not very long until the dog stays right beside you. The you find distractions and when the dog pays attention to the distraction you go the other way yanking the dog when it gets to the end of it's leash.

When it gets better behaved you go to a 6 ft leash.

Then you put just a foot or so of leash on them so they think they have a leash and if they wonder off you throw a chain at them.

After you go thru all the steps you have a dog that does not need a leash.

Did this with my first dog. Never had to resort to throwing the chain.
Second dog never responded correctly. Did great on leash, take it loose or go to the small chunk and she would just take off.
Pepper is about the middle. She pulls the first couple of minutes then behaves. That's why I said I need to train her more.

GH85Carrera 04-24-2018 08:17 AM

Our male dachshund is likely the only dog on the planet that HATES to go fo a walk. We put the leash on him and he freezes. He will not move. The female is typical, gets all excited for the walk. Then she quits after a few blocks. So we go for a carry, not a walk. Not much fun.

flipper35 04-24-2018 08:49 AM

Ours will sit and yip and whine if we don't take them along on the walk. Then the lab used to do the same if we did take her. No pleasing that female. The beagle is stubborn and obnoxious for walks.

They both did very well on a leash at the dog beach. Go figure.
