I don't really know. At that time I had a 4 door Audi, Plymoth hot rod, and Ford Utility Van.

Generally feel the Cayenne Turbo pretty much fills all those functions except the van had a trailer hitch and the Cayenne does not.

I need to play the lottery!!!

2018 – 8k miles - $47998

RKDinOKC 08-24-2018 12:27 PM

That is the color I would get...
You tryin ta make me find something to replace both my GTS and Turbo with aren't ya?

GH85Carrera 08-24-2018 12:30 PM

Yea, that is a pretty good price.

I have never understood why anyone would want the built in navigation. It is a pain to update, and in 7 or 10 years likely will not be able to be updated at any price. We got the the Apple Connect and it uses the iPhone. We can use Google or Apple navigation. We just turned 8,000 mile on it.

RKDinOKC 08-24-2018 12:32 PM

I've only used the NAV on my Cayenne once.
The tour group I was with left while I was in the restroom.
It got me from not knowing where I was to the hotel I didn't know how to get to.
It did take me thru 3 low water crossings that were almost a foot deep though.
Figured the Cayenne picked a route it could have some fun on.

Yep, Carplay seems the way to NAV

However have used the nav on my iPhone a couple of times in the GTS and made wrong turns where highways met because it wasn't very clear about which lane to get into and where to turn. Could only go by the famous "Re-Calculating" meant I had made a wrong turn.

Also found cruising down the highway listening to tunes and having the phone play a ringtone that is the beginning of a song just when a song quits can be kind of confusing.

blue is the color I want but its not going to happen for a few years unless the RDX explodes aka blows the turbo.

Porsche-poor 08-24-2018 12:47 PM

my RDX has built in nav but it is a DVD so updating it is not that big an issue and its 11 years old now.

Yea, but it is a Japanese car. Try that with a German car. I know one friend that has a 996 Turbo that is DVD based. Porsche does not sell or offer any upgrade path. He is stuck with very out of date GPS. My understanding now is the dealer has to do the upgrade for more modern cars.

My Garmin GPS came with free lifetime updates. I have to hook it to my computer to upgrade it.

Our 182 has XM updates and the Garmin instrumentation is expensive as well. I am sure Garmin will support it for quite a while. Just big bucks.

Porsche-poor 08-24-2018 01:12 PM

didn't know that about German cars. Oh well I still want it.

RKDinOKC 08-24-2018 02:25 PM

Checked and can update the 955 Cayenne maps for only $700. LOL

For a long time Porsche did not have NAV as an option when other cars did. The official word was, if you don't know where you are going before you leave, you should not be driving there. It was kinda the same thing until 2001 and cup holders, ie. you shouldn't be drinking and driving.

Kinda agreed with my big ol 4x4s and the cup holders. If you had a drink in one and went off road, chances were that the drink got splattered all over your and the inside of the vehicle. Including the roof!

GH85Carrera 08-24-2018 04:39 PM

Gosh, only 700 bucks. That is right in line with the 182 update.

RKDinOKC 08-24-2018 07:21 PM

Something about the radio has to have a dealer update to be able to use the new map cd.

Really makes me want to replace the radio with something that does carplay.
But the amps/speakers/steering wheel control are all wack because they use that MOST bus thing.

A nice winter arvo for a spin up the road on the bike for a beer at an outback pub. ‘bout a 250km round trip.

Three friends and I rode our 10 speed bikes from college to a theather in OKC and back. About 130 miles (209 km) round trip. The farthest trip I've taken on my bike. It was to see the closest first showing of the first Star Trek movie in a big theater.

Beer was involved in that last minute decision and most of the ride.

We spent the night at one of the guy's parents house. His Mom went all out cooking us a huge dinner.

It was Epoch.

When first out of college rode that bike 20mi round trip every day to work for 3 months. Worked night shift in a machine shop, kind of enjoyed the ride. Coworkers thought I was nuts. Developed some kind of problem that it was really painful in the arch of my foot to Pedal. Stoped riding. Don't have any kind of bike now.

GH85Carrera 08-25-2018 06:38 AM

I haven’t ridden a bike since I got a car.

Watching the F1 practice. Next up is qualifying. It is nice to get to see all three practices. It is also nice to have F1 back after the summer break.

Spent the morning getting the old Troy Built roto-tiller running. The battery was dead, the spring that pulls the starter rope back in was sprung, and the valve on the bottom of the gas tank was stopped up with gook. Flushed out the gas tank and replaced all the fuel line. Rewinding the pull starter spring and getting it back together took the most patience. Had to almost disassemble the motor to service it. Especially when it only pulled the rope half way back in the first time and had to re-do it.

That tiller is 45 years old. It still has the original Briggs and Straton 8hp motor.

It was in better shape until a nephew borrowed it for a weekend and didn't bring it back for 4 years. The worst part is, he left it sitting outside.
Hope this time it comes back sooner and in better shape than when it left.

Buongiorno, y'all. At lest for another minute or so.

We're settling in to a stretch of pleasant weather here. Lows in the mid-to-upper 60s, highs in the mid 70s. We just need a bit of rain to make it perfect.

GH85Carrera 08-26-2018 11:12 AM

Summer has returned here.

I got the yard mowed, and the oil changed on the Elky. It was the 361,000 mile service.
