The area where the 928 group's GTG is flooding. They have aerial photography of the hotel. It is a lake side hotel and the water is high, and part of the outdoor dining area at the restautant next door is under water, the parking lot is not flooded so the event is still on for the first weekend in November. Did my mail in vote so wouldn't have to worry whether I participated in the GTG or not.
There is usually a spirited drive the group takes on Saturday. They report they can get to the lunch place and the different wineries without going thru any of the flooded areas. It won't be as much fun, but they can still get around. In years past the drive's fun roads included low water crossings. |
Seattle, Cool, they bringing you to the mothership for "Training"?
Friend of mine works for Apple. He is top tier iPhone support. He works from home. He is only required to answer calls 4 hrs a day. And then it is usual Apple iPone support calling him with an issue they can't solve. The rest of the time he is free to do what he wants. He does have to use some of that time to keep up on the iPhones. bit he says that doesn't take much time. He likes to go in as a part time Genius at the local Apple store to keep up with his people skills, but it isn't required. |
I am off to get some free coffee and donuts at the dealership. It is a great day weather wise. The first rain free weekend since Labor Day!

Oh man, our Tableau server guy is still trying to use the group management features of Tableau instead of managing groups in Exchange. Making yet another place to manage groups and create errors. Says it is so Tableau users can create and manage their own groups. I've tried to explain why that is a bad idea, but he just won't let go. Probably because of the tutorials and instructions for tableau. Today he is trying to import users from existing exchange groups. Der, what.

Heard a Cork man drowned. His name was Bob.

Have fun on your trip, Sid.

Did, see if you can maybe find a pub and have a Guinness for me. Good stuff. The hotel in French Lick had Guinness on draw, and they did it right.

The giant shifter on a Ferrari at the car show. I bet that is great to row through the gears with that precise shifter. ;) |

The Jameson distillery tour is on our agenda for evening team building activities as well.... |
Can't imagine them not making it fun.
Does uber have a bus to get the team back to the hotel? |
Phew,
The car show was fun. Got home just in time for lunch, and then the boss's wife had me in the back yard cleaning filters on the Koi pond. Then she "let" me help her put the Koi pond cover on. It keeps out 99% of the fall leaves. We keep it in the attic all summer. So haul it down, unroll it, put it in place and then the fun part is getting out all the concrete pieces to weight down the edges of the cover. We store those in the storage building in the corner. Then she "let" me help her with the fountain in the front garden. Pick up a 500 pound (OK, I might have exaggerated a little tiny little bitty bit here) statue to get it off of the basin for cleaning. Get that cleaned up then put the statue on a concrete pad in the garden under a cover. Then I finally got to play in my garage. Finally some real fun. The turn signal switch stalk broke internally. I just happen to have a spare on the shelf. Well, "while I was in there" I might as well take apart part of the crazy mouse trap of the steering wheel column and take off the spring plate. Both require special tools which I of course already have them. Been there, done it before. So off comes the steering wheel, the cover plate and then the spring plate with the cool special tools to depress the plate while I get the spring clip out of the slot, and onto the special tool. Dig down a few more layers, and find the hole where the wire goes for the control stalk. It is the stalk that I use for the turn signals, the wipers, and the cruise control. Yep all three and the wipers are two speed with delay and washer function. It is all done, everything works like new, and I get to relax and have a beer. Happy times here and the bosses wife is happily watching football in the living room. |
I spent the afternoon working on the Z while my wife went swimming. I think we might get in some sailing tomorrow. Arrr.
|
I went ahead and ordered a new wiper-turn signal-cruise control stalk. It was under 20 bucks. I like to keep one in stock, even though I have only needed to replace just one after 368,000 miles after 27 years. I like to have parts on hand. :)

Yesterday gave Pepper the leftover loaded chips from lunch tuesday. She somehow slicked up everything except for the tomatoes, including jalapeno peppers. Lazy me didn't remove the tomatoe chunks and just poured the leftover chef's special fried rice (includes chunks of beef, chicken, and shrimp) in her frisbee. It was good, but can only eat so much rice with my diabetes. She slicked all that fried rice stuff up including the tomatoes from dinner yesterday.
Have always feed my goldens in a frisbee. Have a flexible frisbee they can't chew up. That way they bring the their frisbee when they want something to eat. My first dog, Penny brought me her frisbee anytime you could see even a spot of the bottom of her food bowl. She only ate when she was hungry, but always want food in her bowl. Camber, my last dog, and Pepper now completely empty their bowl no mater how much I put in it so have to dole out food the keep them from getting fat. At least Pepper doesn't wake me up in the middle of the night to feed her like Camber did. Pepper really liked the rice, she climbs up and lays across my lap, licks my hand, and wags her tail after she has eaten something she really likes. Doesn't last too long though. She jumps down and says "I want out" to go deposit number 6's in her spot in the back yard. |
Ahhhhh, all the Doritos Corn Tortillas are gone. Now all they gots is all the spiced up stuff like Nacho Cheese, Cool Ranch, etc. No more plain ones. They put less and less on the shelves are were always out. Now there just ain't none.
Remember Mom making Dorito chili cheese pie when I was a kid. They came out in 1966. It is still my favorite tortilla chip for home. |
Aer lingus cancelled my flight from London to Ireland. Now I get a 12 hour layover in London. I just want to find a place to sleep!!!

Aer lingus? Are you sure it was not their sister company cunni? It always is annoying to book a flight, make plans, and have the airline decide to announce they changed their mind. Good luck getting there. |
Best flight story i got I didn't even fly (in a plane). Had an ear infection and couldn't. Dropped 2 friends off at the OKC airport, drove really fast in my Jeep Cherokee to DFW, then picked them up walking out of the terminal to catch a cab. Asked them how their flight was. One said at least they got a continental breakfast. I pointed at my drink holder that had a drink and wadded up donut wrapper.
Have no idea how fast I went. The speedo on the Jeep Cherokee pegged at 85. Just kept up with a Corvette and a Golf GTI, that were making great time however fast they were going. |
My best cancelled flight story I wasn't flying either. it was when my Mom was flying back from Harlingen TX. She gave me the flight she was supposed to be on, when I went to pick her up she wasn't there. The girl working the gate didn't know anything about it.
At that time I had the address and a back door login for American Airlines SabreNet system that did passenger scheduling for most of the airlines and tracked most all the flights. Drove home, logged into SabreNet and looked up Mom. She had to change planes in Houston. They had overbooked her flight from Houston to OKC and put her on a later one. The flight to bring her to OKC had just left Houston and she was on it. Found the flight number and arrival time for OKC. It was better than UPS or FedEx tracking. Was able to go be standing at the gate when Mom got to OKC. Luckily her luggage was on the carousel as well. |
