address sent. I'll have an entire spare computer soon as the kid heads to college. Maybe sooner if he acts up.......

All the encoding is done on the card so it doesn't have to be a power hog like Glen's. You will need lots of space though.

We have few straight roads here. The interstates are relatively straight bit the two lane highways have curves. The back roads have lots. When I got my first sporty car in the late 80s we had a challenge to see who could stay above the 45mph speed limit on some of the roads. We have to watch out for wildlife mostly here.

I used to really enjoy bombing around the WI countryside when I was a teenager. Good times.

The computer I want to use is tower gamer. Worst case I pull a side off.

Sorry, I meant hard drive space. The card isn't very big.

G’day

Found out at dinner last night that I had the dates wrong for the granddaughters dance thing. It’s not until April 2021. That’s going to give me plenty of time to plan the trip. Thanks for the comments so far. I was discussing it over dinner with friends a couple of nights ago, and it’s looking like there could be 6 of us coming over. Chicago to LA looks most likely and after we’ve been to Orlando to watch the granddaughter.

Porsche-poor 06-13-2019 01:24 PM

even easier.

Central Oklahoma roads are giant chess board. Lots of straight lines. At our other house before we moved here, we went up a road called Hyw 77. It was arrow straight for miles, except when the road came to "survey correction line" and there was a single S curve designed for a top heavy semi to take a 55 with no worries. We used to tell my wife to hold on, the "curve" is coming up. That was about it for the 90 mile drive up to my in-laws house.

If you get down to the southeast and eastern parts of the state it gets into the mountains, and the national forest areas and much like Arkansas, and lots of fun curves. It is just a long way to get there. If you go up towards the panhandle the trees are very few and far between.

Well, we don't have space for 6, but we fer sure want to meet up with you and take you to the round barn, Pops, and Ann's Chicken Fry. The actual path of RT66 through OKC is crazy, it goes a long way south, right past the state capitol, then back up north to a busy road going west. All I can guess is the folks that set up RT-66 wanted it to go past the capitol for some reason.

Starting next Wednesday I'll be more AWOL but ahead of you from Europe.

You do know that LA and Disney World are on opposite sides of the country, California vs Florida. It is DisneyLand that is near LA, in California.

Was thinking about never really planning any road trips until I got my 914. Nothing else got good enough gas mileage. Especially my first car, a 68 Ford Wagon with a 390 that got 8mpg highway.

Driving the 914, planned a lap around the perimeter of the contenental United States taking back roads. Looked like it would take a month. Lost my entusiasm when drove from my Sister's in Rolla MO, cross country on back roads to Bro's in Atlanta GA. It was great except for somewhere on the backroads in IL some kids my age piled in a Dodge dart tried to run me off the road. Narrowly avoided them three time before getting in front of them and speeding away, No way they could out brake or turn that 914. Decided a trip like a lap of America taking backroads I needed more protection than a Golden Retreiver in the passenger seat.

I thought about spending a day or so at Disney World on next month's trip to Florida. Then I remembered the huge crowds, and the parking lot and leaving my car in that place. Mrs. Carrera and I spent a week in Disney World. It was a blast, and we stayed at the resort, and used their transportation. It was expensive, but worth the trip. It was almost funny how when you first get off the airplane and they pickup us up on the bus the music was happy, the guide was all full of joy, and the many kids on the buss were all excited. A week later we on the trip to the airport it was dead quiet, and almost like a funeral procession. No music, no tour guide, just a driver that said nothing. Like the message was "get the heck out of here you quitters, we need the space for new victims". They have a heck of an investment, and a real cash cow in the facility.

Good Freakin Morning.

Been to Disneyland twice when I was just a tot and my bro lived close by. Once when they had just finished the Pirates of the Caribbean, again when they had just finished the Haunted Mansion.

Didn't go to DisneyWorld with Bro's family and my parents after bro had moved to Atlanta and glad I didn't. Everyone was really pissed off by my SIL sleeping til noon everyday making them all only able to spend half a day in the various parks.

GH85Carrera 06-14-2019 05:52 AM

Disney World is a just HUGE operation. Multiple parks, and Downtown Disney to boot. 40 square miles of expensive things to do. 25,600 acres. Or 10,359 hectare for the metric folks.

They have some great restaurants. One place we ate at was set up like grandmas kitchen. Lots of antiques. They had actresses-waitresses serve the food. If you had your elbows on the table she would come over and scold you. The table next to us had one guy that kept putting his elbows on the table just to get a rise from "grandma". If you don't eat the green beans she will scold you and tell you no desert for you until you finish your green beans. They are dressed and look the part wearing aprons and grey haired, and each one must have had experience as a mom or grandma to play the part so well. It was a fun meal. And dang good food.

RKDinOKC 06-14-2019 07:03 AM

Ate at a place in Chicago that was like Tex Slims in Pulp Fiction.

Porsche-poor 06-14-2019 08:23 AM

morning all. wrapping up the construction issue before the vacation.

GH85Carrera 06-14-2019 08:37 AM

Have fun. What country are ya going to this time?

Porsche-poor 06-14-2019 08:39 AM

Ireland. Should be interesting. I was told by a co-worker they use the "F" word like a comma.

Our neighborhood association is spending some of our homeowners association dues. Like many neighborhoods around here the front entrance of the neighborhood has a brick wall and pillars on each end with flower beds in front to make the place look nice. Two of the pillars on two of the walls are sinking into the ground, so we get to have them jacked up with foundation piers. It has been interesting to see the process.

They screwed posts into the ground using a neat gizmo that uses 900 pound feet of torque to slowly screw it into the ground. The bolt a shelf like thing on the post, and raise it up to level. It kinda looks like work they are doing. I sure prefer to sit in front off my computer and watch physical labor than participate.
