Gassed up the Cayenne and checked the 4 wheel drive system. Even put the puppy dog seat cover on the back seat. Ready for slickery roads but probably won't leave the house.
|
My morning commute will not change an iota. I likely will not leave the house tomorrow.

Aw, crap. We have about 4-1/2 to 5 inches of snow so far. My morning commute was messed up by having to put on shoes, and shovel a path to the yard for the dogs to do their thing. That 60 seconds delay was exhausting.
I am back into my house-slippers and working on a second cup of coffee. I may have to declare it a snow day due to treacherous conditions on the road. There is an entire new generation of idiots drivers that are convinced their cool lowered Honda has infinite traction, or the ones in SUV with all wheel drive so they think they can go anywhere. The TV news has shown areas where the backups are really long trying to get up a slight incline. They think just flooring the throttle will get you up the slick hill faster. |
Sn#w? Whassthat?
Happy Saturday, y’all. SmileWavy |

Repressed memories can be a blessing!
Coldish here but no snow falling. |
Looks like we gots a little over 3 inches looking out the window. The current temp is 30°F so nothin I can see is actually melting. But I can't see any roads exceot my neighborhood street in front of my house. It has packed ruts that may or may not be ice Don't know about the more trafficed streets.
Remember gettin out with these slick roads when I had my Passat. It actually got around really well. It had traction control and ABS and was front wheel drive. But was passed up by a big suburban. It had smashed into another vehicle by the time I got to the next intersection 1/2 mile away. Guess it don't matter how fast you can get going if you can't stop! Noticed on my Cayenne before you can engage the transfer case in four wheel drive, it engages a gear reduction. So it limits how fast you can get going in four wheel drive. And it is very rare to find a Cayenne you can lock the front diff, so there is always one front wheel that does not slip so you can steer. That is how my old GMC Jimmy 4x4 was. Don't remember ever having a 4x4 that the front dif locked. |
Phew, I worked up a sweat!
And I was in my office. When I first set up the new monster computer, I had a bunch of cables in the way, so I had it sticking out a lot form the cubby hole is fits into. Then I changed modems and routers, so those wires had to be changed, and everything was a total tangle. I am still convinced the CIA and the FBI are in cahoots, and they come in while I am out and twist up all the cables into a mess. So I pulled the heavy machine out, and reorganized the cables, and moved some of the transformers out of the way, and made a lot more room. |
Hi guys,
It’s been a crappy couple of weeks. Two weeks ago my younger brother was diagnosed with cancer and given 3 to 6 months, untreatable. I booked flights immediately, to go see him before ‘5hit went south’. He passed away before I got there. :( The funeral was Tuesday, now on our way home. |
Sorry for your loss Jeff. That really sucks.
|
Our condolences Jeff. We are half way round the world, but if there is anything we can do, let us know.
|
Condolences

From what the TV news showed, (my wife had it on) they had a real cluster fudge this morning on the morning commute. The roads are mostly melted off and just wet now. It will of course refreeze and have some slick spots tomorrow. I did have to go out to get the mail today and our sidewalks are almost snow free as is the driveway. I of course took credit for shoveling the snow off. ;)
We are supposed to have sunshine and mid 40s tomorrow. 62 on Sunday. |
Sorry about the loss of your brother, Jeff. All the best to you and the rest of his/your family.

Put the rear seat doggie seat cover in the cayenne. It fit okay, but not as well as the one BMW sells for their 3 series. Also the harness clips that plug into the seat belt connectors has plastic clips to clip to a harness. That is a big no no for a crash harness! The crash tests I watched, that plastic clip is what broke.

Jeff, that is just so terrible, my sincere condolences, sometimes life really sucks. Live every day like it is your last, ....they say, because ...........!
Aaaark, so quick. |
I always wish there was something more to say then my condolences.
The sun is out, but it has lots of work to do today. The roads are clear, just patches of ice, so not too bad out there. Our PCA region is having breakfast this weekend at a place called Pop's on Rr-66. It is a very short drive for us. Pops 66 Soda Ranch - Pops 66 The pretty much have every brand of soda pop sold in the USA, and some they had made up just because. I will have coffee and a glass water with my breakfast. |
Flat track racing Saturday night! My cousin is racing so we will probably go watch.
|
Rained like hell all night, sun is out and trying up the area. Going to change the oil in the 911 this weekend.
