91 and sunny here. It is really nice up to 10:00 AM, then hot.

We have a week of sun in the forecast. The autocross on Sunday will be up to high 80s before we are out of there.

Porsche-poor 06-12-2020 02:26 PM

91 with A/C wouldn't be that bad.

Have lots of little holes in the yard and mostly around the bottom of the stockade fence where there are flower beds on one side or the other. The holes in the yard were mostly lizards and snakes. Thing between Pepper and the owls they are kept mostly empty. The other holes are mostly rabbits with a few opossum thrown in. The possum mostly cruize the fences, but do take to the grownd now and then. Have seen the rabbits in the front yard siloetted by the evening sun. Pepper and the owls seem to keep their numbers in check though.

Never see more than one squirrel at a time. They mostly cruise the trees, have seen Pepper keep them up there.

My first golden, Penny would bark a couple of time then just go sniff wherever they were when she saw them. Only took one of two the teach her not to run after them. The second golden, Camber would chase them up and keep barking and jumping as long as she could see them. She has brought squirrels, oposssum, rabbit, snakes, lizards, and even birds to the door. The opossum was just playing dead though.

Think Pepper catches stuff, then just rips it up whipping it about shaking her head. That is probably why the great horned owl gave her a talking to. Now just see her chasing stuff thru the holes and bark a couple of times. Most of the time she will go to each of the holes, stop, then look at me and run to the next one. Guess she is showing me she is watching where the animals get in.

A rabbit ran through a small gap under the fence at full speed. It was amazing. It was like a cartoon, the rabbit was running fast, and it just disappeared under the fence. Our dog was confused and upset.

The skunk trapper said if a critter is using a hole regularly up will see a drag line in the ground there. We have conclusive proof a skunk has been back there at least twice since the dog was sprayed. Likely even more than once.

RKDinOKC 06-13-2020 07:54 AM

Camber got by me twice after getting skunked. Both times she got into Mom's bedroom and on the bed before I smelled it. The second time I had the Miracle stuff on-hand to spray her and the house down. Both times had someone come visit to make sure they did not smell anything after de-stinking the place. Worked great! Keep a quart of Nature's Miracle on the shelf in the garage just in case. The first time was worse because had to spend time to go get the Nature's Miracle.

Skunk must have gotten her good both times cause couldn't find anywhere in the back yard that had the odor. Was ready tp de-stink outside area as well.

GH85Carrera 06-13-2020 08:38 AM

Phew. Having fun here boss.

I went outside to fix a few spray heads on the sprinkler system. The heads are cheap and easy to replace, but the new ones have to be aimed properly. That means, turn the system on, and grab the part that pops up, and twist it to set the edges of the spray area. That means getting kinda wet. Got those done, and I had noticed the PCV valve on the Elky was old an the grommet was hard as a rock and not sealing. So I had ordered a new grommet, and the grommet for the fresh air breather side. That other grommet had turned to mush. It was like a blob of goo. Weird one was hard, the other virtually melted. It was a simple job, and cheap parts.

Then I put the 911 in the work bay, and got it all ready for the autocross tomorrow. Yaw Hoooo.

GH85Carrera 06-14-2020 10:29 AM

Whooo Hoooo, fun autocross and great turnout. Everthing from my old 85 911 to two cars that ran the one lap of America and one is a notional SCCA champ in his class. One car, a Mazda MX4 with a LS transplant and Hoosiers set FTD. But broke after 3 laps. One C5 Corvette was supercharged and did real well. Almost all the cars were from 2000 and newer except me. One Audi had paper tags and he bought it just a few weeks ago.

I had fun and that is truly all I care about. It did get to 90 degrees. My oil temp never got to 210. Just 200 or 205. Amazing to sit at idle and have cool engine temps. When I got home I was wondering if the gauge was lying. I checked the oil filter, front oil cooler and various spots on the engine. Nothing about 200 and that is what the gauge showed. The AC was cold and wonderful for the ride home.

That 911 has to be the best toy ever. I can flog it through over 120 autocrosses, several track days, drive it all over the country and even into Canada and it is worth over double what I paid for it.

Several guys approached me and said it was fun to watch me run that old car through the course and see my elbows out trying to steer through the turns. Dang it is fun.

I had a type of SPAM today I had net seen in a long time, the old "make it bigger and harder" spam. It used to be most of the spam and then kinda went away for a long time, or my spam filter got good enough to eliminate them before I saw them. The spam filter caught this one, but I still had to mark it as spam, and block it and the domain and sender.

We get to play lumberjack today and remove one limb that keeps whacking me on the head on a tree in the front yard. It started the fight, and I am gonna end it.

You have missed all the best discussions! You started the thread and abandoned us and made us go on without adult supervision. The thread just wanders aimlessly but we have fun.

Dang it is bright in here!

I went to the ophthalmologist this morning for my yearly checkup. Everything is still doing good and my retinas are all look good. They of course dilate my eyes, to get a better view. I have done this enough to know to bring in my sunglasses. But wow, it is still bright. And of course at the first light, it turned red just in front of me, and fleet of clean WHITE vehicles pulled up on all sides and across the intersection. Not a black car in sight. And in the middle of the street was a piece of glass or metal acting like a mirror of the sun shining right in my eyes. I am glad to be back home.

livi 06-15-2020 07:15 AM

Sorry, Glen. I canīt keep up. Glad to here you are having fun.

livi 06-15-2020 07:16 AM

Wait a minute. 59k + posts?

Porsche-poor 06-15-2020 07:51 AM

Morning all.

Wow a visit from the starter of all things strange.

RKDinOKC 06-15-2020 08:12 AM

Went to retinopathy doc last Monday. No shots, whoo hoo! Haven't gotten any shots in the eyeballs for a year. The veins in my retina's aren't swelling or leaking (retinopathy). Have floaters in my right eye, and have had it for a while now. Looks like a wad of threads. They not bad enough to be removed, Keep the lighting dim at home to keep it from bothering me to much.

In the past have gotten dilated, a shot, and drove home while snowing. Used the sunglasses that go behind your glasses, my glasses with sunglasses, and some of those old people sunglasses that fit over glasses. It was still way to bright out! Usually just go home and sleep for a few hours for the dilation stuff to wear off. The shot blurs vision in one eye for the next 24 hours. At least I can see. Vision got to 20/200 with glass before it got better. Thats basically blind.

Saw on Youtube where this chick has 5000/20 vision. They said she can recognize people a mile away. She has the vision of an eagle. She can't watch tv cause she sees the dots that make the picture. Wonder if 4K helps any. Didn't say if computer monitors were just dots as well.

Good to see posts from that Markus guy. Hope it is going well there too.

I walked next door to the optometrist from the ophthalmologist to have them work on my glasses "while I was there" to replace the nose pieces, which had some crud that does not wash off and to check out why one lens would pop out rather easily. The nose pieces are easy to replace for them, and he said one screw was stripped. He had to put in a slightly oversize self tapping screw to get it to hold. If I use my 9X magnifying glass I can see the new screw is a Phillips and the other screw is a straight screw. It is on the bottom side of the frame, so only if someone with a magnifying glass looks real close can one tell it is not OEM. So my glasses will not win a concours but I have never heard of a concours for glasses.

The optometrist is a separate business in the same building. They don't do any eye exams, just sell glasses.

Porsche-poor 06-15-2020 08:36 AM

will they deduct points for mismatched screws? I bet a free beer will get it over looked.

GH85Carrera 06-15-2020 08:39 AM

If it was a Pebble Beach level Concours likely I would lose points. I guess I have outlaw glasses. Cause that is just how I roll!

Porsche-poor 06-15-2020 08:41 AM

well there is the 6 foot rule...……….anyone getting close enough to inspect the screws van be slugged.

RKDinOKC 06-15-2020 08:48 AM

My optometrist and opthomologist are in the same building. But am a weirdo and order my glasses from Scheyden. The sunglass lenses are hinged at the top so can be flipped up and down.

https://www.scheyden.com/images/thum...gRX-bronze.jpg

They are kind of 1980s but like not have separate sunglasses or clip-ons to lose.
And don't need glasses for around the house or seeing up close. Usually remove them at restaurants to read the menus and eat.
May need to get the prescription like bifocals with no script for reading.
Would like to have the tint graduated so can see the dash better and still have sunglasses.
