Years. They are like GM of late. Wait until it is decent and then replace it!
|
Really?
I thought Microsoft said Win 10 was the last version, just updates from now on. That is the first mention of Win 11 that I had heard of. I remember the huge buzz for Windows 95 and people standing in lines to buy a copy. Lots of versions since. I sure will not just jump on Win 11 if and when it comes out. I will wait for a while. |
|
I still have my copy of Windows 386, also called Windows 2 and MS DOS 6. They are on floppies so it will be hard to load them.
|
I did for a while then I trashed them.
|
Heck I still have my old DOS 2.1 on 360K 5.25 inch floppies. I lost my DOS 1.1 disk. It vanished from my old office.

Yep, I recently cleaned out my closet. Win95 was like 12 - 3.5 inch floppies. I tossed a lot of old 5.25 and 3.5 inch floppies.
The fist computer we had at work was an IBM Systems 36. Two 8 inch floppies. One was the boot disk, the other was the data disk. 1.2 MB max as I remember. The keyboard was the old clicky clacky indestructible keyboard. Just a green screen, and no graphics at all. We could do the sales reports for each department. Finally when the IBM AT came out we moved to a DOS and some off the shelf accounting software. Maybe Peachtree. |
Tomorrow is the dealer's free coffee and donuts at the dealership. Always a fun even to see the cars brought by the attendees.
|
Tomorrow is start building the deck day for us. Well, start removing the concrete step actually.

morning all. today is groceries day, haircut, trip to vet and work in there some where.

Yea, my wife is happy to report I get my hair cut today. I go every 5 weeks. She trims my entire head. Hair, beard, mustache, and eyebrows. I take of my ears and nose hair.
It just ain't fair that the hair on top of my head all turned around and started coming out of my ears. I don't care if it turns chrome (grey), I just don't want it to turn loose. |
Argh!
I just got a letter from my doctor's office and he is leaving the practice. So I ran off another doctor I guess. The recommendation the sent along is for a doctor truly on the other side of the city, and a 20 to 30 minute drive depending on traffic to get there. I had one doc for almost 20 years, and he retired to go be a missionary in South America. He was replaced by a great guy that is even in the local Porsche club and he has a air coled 911. He quit private practice to go to work at Hobby Lobby as the staff physician and just get a paycheck. Now the latest doc is leaving that practice. I don't have any major health issues, I just need the standard old family practice. I guess the health care laws have made it impossible to make a decent living doing a family practice. I can't blame the doctors for wanting to make a good living and see patient and not just spend all day doing paperwork. |
they know when to get out I guess.

COOL!
I just went to my mailbox and almost got a chill! ;) It is 68 degrees and low humidity. We might briefly get to 70 for a hour before the lows tonight of 55. I LIKE IT! I will for sure take advantage tomorrow of the weather and mow and then play in my garage to start the prep for the trip to Parade. |
Morning all. Actually got the 911 out for drive yesterday. Little hot for my taste but fun.
|
I need to take mine out for a 30 to 45 minute drive when the temp is back to 90s and full sun. I want to be sure it blows COLD air in hot conditions. That is a better test than checking system pressures.

I heard the concrete truck backing up to deliver the concrete for the city crew to build the curb. I felt it was necessary to go supervise. So I walked up just as the pour was about to began. It was obvious that crew was not on their first day. One guy was pointing the trough and waving to the driver with hand signals. He had the truck moving forward just a bit and then back up as the crew was moving the concrete around.
One of the crew handed me a scree on a pole and I just leaned on it like a supervisor. They all laughed and said he has the supervisor job figured out. I handed back the scree and they were shaping the concrete into a curb by hand. A different crew came buy a few days ago and put in a form for the back side where the grass is. That will get pulled out of course once it is set up. Then the next crew will come and pour new road bed. It would be interesting and likely maddening to learn exactly what the entire process has cost the city. Many thousands of dollars. |
morning all. super warm here for the next few days. Found out yesterday the MIL's a/c in the house quit. Way to costly at this point to fix. If the heat still works in the fall I'm done.
|
Almost chilly here this morning. Down to 60, and I am NOT COMPLAINING at all. The humidity is low, and it is very pleasant out. As soon as the dew evaporates a little more I will mow the yard again. Yesterday we had light rain, and the high was just about 70. Tomorrow summer returns and we are back to typical summer heat.
