All 5 gates (yard and driveway) on the property are always padlocked.
More for our safety as we don't have outdoor pets.

GH85Carrera 07-21-2021 09:02 AM

The other gates are padlocked, but we use that one gate a lot. After 22 years we have never had any issue at all with it being left open.

I will start slipping the padlock into place, and just not snapping it shut and locked. It looks locked from a distance.

A long tima ago friend of mine who was a lawyer in El Centro arrived at his office to find the FBI agents across the hall had been shot and hole in his desk chair. He was glad to have not been in the office.

The term "going postal" was coined after an shooting at the Edmond Post office August 20, 1986. The scumbag I will not name lived right down the street from my office building. I could see his house from my office window. Fortunately he died at the post office and the ambulance crew was not allowed to go in the building was cleared, and it was a slow process so he got to suffer for a while before he kicked off.

The police and feds had the area clogged with vehicles. The jerk was dead at the morgue, and they tore the house apart.

flipper35 07-22-2021 09:58 AM

You should just tell them you are friends with guy on a free, anonymous forum site about Porsches, in thread named after a guy in Europe, that does not even visit the thread anymore. The IT director guy doesn't own a Porsche anymore, but he as taught you all about cyber security. You are good to go. The weird guy in Oklahoma has lots of silly opinions he throws out all the time to add to your education.

Porsche-poor 07-22-2021 10:43 AM

Had I known, I would have marked you as having completed the course. :D

Porsche-poor 07-22-2021 10:53 AM

I'm sure there will be another in a few months time.

GH85Carrera 07-22-2021 01:02 PM

I have removed his last name. His real email is a local company, not something from Canada. I did NOT click on the link. Erick (not his real name) is a quiet type and he likely knows very few "girls" and I sure ain't interested.

I forwarded it to him so he can send it to his email provider and see if they have any clue as to how to stop the fake. Likely nothing can be done. I did not fall for it.

I also edit the link to not be a hyper link.

Good thing as it doesn't use SSL!

GH85Carrera 07-22-2021 01:39 PM

Yea, it pegged my BS meter instantly. No way would I click that link. I sometimes wonder just how good my anti-virus really is, but I don't want to put it to a full test.

I assumed it was a virus, trojan, or flat out malware ware to lock up my system.

I saw no upside at all.

Those IT guys are never busy so they have to call to bug ya. They just sit at a computer and tap on keys and the computer does all the work for them. They just devise how to be like the Dilbert cartoon and be Mordoc, the denier of information.

Porsche-poor 07-23-2021 06:40 AM

Morning all. Well its Friday. time to get groceries and trash the storage units some more.

GH85Carrera 07-23-2021 08:13 AM

We just returned from the grocery store. Normally we go on Sunday morning and the crowds are far less.

We have guest coming today and they will stay until Sunday morning so we had to go get supplies. Several families with little kids that we never see on Sunday mornings.

Hey, hey now. We only do that when we are awake!

GH85Carrera 07-23-2021 11:13 AM

No doubt you have seen the Dilbert cartoons about Modoc, the preventer of information services.
