I called and told them it was your anniversary so they'd better let you off or i was sending more snow out there.
|
Thanks Pete, I appreciate it. We got to go eat at our favorite restaurant tonight. That is always a nice meal, and we always have leftovers.
|
Morning all. Off to play nice with the engineers and then off to trivia for the night.

I did talk to tech support about my Autel MX808 and he said my favorite phrase, "I have never heard of that issue" so I feel special. He had me go to the menu that I did find and set it to English and I said I have it on English.
One cool thing, is the tool has Team Viewer built in. So I gave him the code to my tool, and bam, he took control. He was amazed when he went to the system settings and suddenly it was in Spanish. He said he has noodled around enough to figure it out before, so he found yet another update. I would have done that update, but I can't read Spanish. It rebooted twice more, and finally it is all in English. That allowed me to find the settings for Central time, so it is all set up. Yea! So on Saturday I think I will be doing a Macan oil change. |
Tech support comes thru some tines.
|
It was really simple when they have Team Viewer built in to the unit. He said normally when English is chosen for the main menu he entire unit goes to English. Somehow mine was mixed up. It is nice to be able to read it now.
|
Phone call and a wait probably beat a course in Spanish.
|
Yea, as a kid growing up in San Marcos, TX we had to learn some basic Spanish, but that was when I was 3rd grade I think. Of course in Hawaii they taught us some Hawaiian. And of course every state wanted us to lean some state history.
I remember how to count to 5 in Spanish, and as an adult I learned the most important phrase is cerveza por favor. Of course it usually came or as cervasa pour favor. |
Morning all. Short work day with a 2.5 hour drive mixed in. Lets hope when the sun comes up I find the pass clear with no snow.
|
If I drive to Dallas it is about 2.5 hours. And there is a pass in the Arbuckle Mountains, but it is not exactly a high mountain pass. I think the pass is about 1,100 feet above seal level. The range is some of the oldest mountains in the USA, 1.3 billion years old. There is a scenic overlook with spaces for 5 cars! No places to chain up, and snow tires are not required. ;)
The average elevation in OKC is about 1,200 feet. |
The pass I cross is about 3000' in elevation. The biggest problem is that they went cheep in building the road at the lowest point. When the snow falls off the hills they close the road and have to haul it away.
|
They have to haul the road away? That seems like a lot of effort even without all that snow around.
|
They have to haul the white fluffy stuff that is no longer light and fluffy but packed and blocking the road.

Fun with passwords!
For my personal account my wife and I have separate accounts at a local credit union. They are a great place, and we are happy with them. They just did a total revamp of their web site, and the phone app. I only use the phone app for depositing checks. Any other time I use my very not portable computer. I can fo a lot more a lot faster with a real keyboard and 27 inch monitor than my phone. The require a total change of a new user name, and all new password, and more fun questions my my first grade teacher's name. I don;t even remember the name of my first grade school much less the name of some teacher I had for 9 months when I was 6 years old. I finally got my computer setup up, and had to then do my cell phone. Delete the old app, and load the new app. Work work work work. Phew. |
Weird. I still remember the names of all my elementary school teachers. They get a little fuzzy in HS, though. I probably remember about 80-90% of those.
|
Well, I went to a new school every single year, except as a Senior. My parents went to just two schools. So they knew the teachers names for years even before they were in the grade, and after they went to a new grade.
So literally, a teacher I only saw for 9 months, and never again. I do remember it was in Pearl City, HI. Unless the school name was Pearl City Elementary, I don’t know the name of the school. |
Morning all. Back from Yakima and back to work here at home.

We got some rain last night, a whopping .32 inch.
The forecast is for more rain so we can hope they are right. It looks like this weekend is Macan oil change day. I watched one video and they just left the camera running as he did everything in 10 minutes. I am guessing with me, the world's slowest mechanic it will be 45 minutes or so. Of course some of it will be first time figuring out things. And my first time needing a computer gizmo to reset the car after an oil change. My El Camino has a ALDL connector, or basically OBD1 and it will let me read the sensors with a gizmo I bought when I converted to fuel injection. It just left me capture 15 seconds of data from all the sensors, but I have to figure out what the reading really mean. Like the voltage of the throttle position sensor is data, but unless I know what is normal it is just a number. It will be an interesting learning experience. Hopefully about like fixing the fridge. |
Dang scammers. I got an phone call that the number looked legit, not just from USA or some tiny town in Oklahoma or some other state. So I answered it, as it might be a customer.
It was a call center, and they said my American Express had possible fraudulent charges. I had an American Express Gold card back in the 70s and 80s when I was broke, because I knew I HAD to pay it off every month. I shut it down back in the mid 1980s and I will never again pay for the honor of carrying a credit card. No annual fee for me anymore. Anyway, I played along and asked what was bought. She could not tell me that, until I read the number on my card to her. I figured they should know the number if they called me, so I changed the subject and asked it she liked puppies. She kept trying to get back to the card, and I said hang on I have to go pee. I put the phone down and left her hanging for four minutes. I came back and asked if she liked flowers, and told her about a trip to a rose garden in Texas I went to. I wasted about 15 minutes of her time. She got mad at me for wasting her time, and I told her she called me, so she was at fault for wasting my time. She finally hung up on me so I guess I got the only revenge possible. |
Morning all. Nice short weekend here. Sunny but cool no rain till last night.
