We had more rain yesterday, and it is 60 degrees this morning. We have pretty much eliminated the drought in central and western Oklahoma. We were down on rainfall for the last several months. We have more rain today, and next week. Eastern OK was not in a drought at all.

I just spent some time researching some of the candidates on the ballot for the upcoming state elections. It just amazes me that anyone running in an election does not have their own web page. Some have a facebok page only, some none at all. Some I did not need to look up, as I knew who to vote for in that race.

So, if I lived in EC still I would call party at Teds house to play with his toys!

Saturday get to test these on track for the first time. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654222559.jpg Slot cars, driving simulator, 8 car garage, two race cars, retired for 15 years and a tall, tan and lovely wife that accepts all of it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/smlove2.gif http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654222878.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654222847.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654222739.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654222901.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654223000.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654223568.jpg Just lucky, I did find a leprechaun crossing the street a while back. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654223769.jpg |
Absolutely fantastic, Ted. All you need is a vintage Pole Position stand-up arcade game to make it a perfect racer's man cave!

Had a guy add some games to our multi cade cocktail table/video game and he ended up selling us a Rock-ola with bubblers and colored scrolls CD/bluetooth juke box. Nice to have a local guy that can service them. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654226800.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654226821.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654226757.jpg |
Fun big boy toys. Two real race cars, and RC track, and simulators. Nice setup.
I started packing my 911 for the long drive out to the Poconos. I am still sad there was not a track day at the Poconos race track. I will stop there and get a photo of my car next to the entrance or a track sign at least. I really wish I could make a few laps, even at a slow pace just to see it from the driver's seat. |
Have a safe drive, not doing the AX this parade?
Along with all the parade activities perhaps there is a museum at the track you can explore. For the after glow drive home get a bumper sticker for the 911. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/face80.gif;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654266809.jpg |
The Parade autocross is just a mess. They flat tell you, expect to spend all day there, for three runs, and 20 minutes of getting through the three runs. It kills the entire day and my wife just has to sit around in the hotel. They always have the super competitive types with cars there are "track whores" with minimal interiors, and every possible brace, and aftermarket go fast part on them. I show up in a very comfortable fat pig of a car. My 911 is 2,741 pounds, and the competitive guys are at 2,200 with a car arriving on a trailer. I drive mine home over 1,000 miles with my wife in the passenger seat. If they had time deducted for every degree the AC drops the temp from ambient temp, I might have a chance. I don't think that is likely.
I only autocross on the Parades she does not attend. I have fun, but no chance at a top five finish. Since she is coming, we have a nice drive-tour to go on and spend the time together. At our local autocross I am not even close to the modern cars times. Even the new Cadillacs are fast. I was kidding with the autocross chairman that we need to have a handicap time. If the age of the car and the driver added together is over 100, it gets 10 seconds off the track time. Then I can be FTD. There are several "kids" that are mid to late 30s driving a Cayman 718 GTS that are just fast. Still the fastest is one guy in his 2021 911 Turbo S. 600+ HP and full time 4 wheel drive is just a tad faster than my car. I really don't care. I just autocross to have fun. I have an attic full of trophies, and I don't need any more. |

Bench racers index where classes were handicapped so that drivers were rewarded for great drives in slower cars. Surprised more PCA chapters have not done the same? |
Our region is pretty small. We have 12 to 15 or so PCA member at the autocross, and some of them show up in a Miata. We opened it up to non PCA members so we can take in enough money to pay for the site, ($250) and the mandated security guard the facility requires. ($150) We do 8 total timed runs.
We don't do classes, or even announce a winner of any class. The timing sheets are available to all to look at. There is a pride thing for FTD and I will will never have to worry about it. We don't have any awards at all, it is just for fun. I went to the local SCCA autocross just once. It is an all day event, with a zillion different classes, and long awards presentation. It cost a ton because they rent a facility's large parking lot, and hand out trophies. 4 times runs, and lots of waiting. |
I just checked my spam email folder. 35 items in 36 hours or so since I last flushed them.
Grrrrr. I really wish I could fight back and do something more than just flush them. I have rules and a blocked senders list, so most of them when right to the spam folder without any more action on my part. I still have to take a quick look in there to make sure something legit did not get sent to spam. |
I get about 1 spam and 1 personal email out of every 10 emails.
The other 8 are subscription emails I rarely read. I don't manage my in box but maybe once a year I get a message I need to empty the inbox. So I flush it all when my storage is at the limit and don't bother with the in box otherwise. I did get increased spam years ago when I bought my racing sim rig from a company in Europe. |

I used to get a ton on "pre-approved" credit card offers. As in severe per week. I started opening the envelope and getting to the postage paid envelope and I would cut up the other crap in the envelope, and put it back in the postage paid envelope and put it in the mail. They got to pay the postage on it to throw it away. It did not do anything but make me feel better.
We received another 3/4 inch of rain the Sunday. Things sure are green around here this year. 1.54 inches of rain so far in June. No one is complaining. It is 71 degrees and nice outside. I gotta get the 911 packed except the suitcases. I will take the suitcases out to the car, and pace around them so I have all the space filled. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1654519935.jpg This is what we took up to our room in Savannah, GA. I left the tools and car wash stuff in the car, so this is not all. The bell boy was amazed how much stuff a 911 can hold, but two adults with clothes from shorts and t-shirts, to nice slacks and "dressier" clothes for the nice restaurants for a 10 to 14 day trip is a bunch of stuff. Well, with my wife at least. When I took my brother to Boca Raton, FL it was a lot easier to pack. |
Morning all. I'm back. Vacation was to short. That is why in 6 working days I'm doing it again. Only this time going to Spain.
|
Safe travels nomads.
Later taking a race car on vacation for a week in Monterey middle of August. |
That's am amazing amount of gear to fit into your 911. :)
After we restored the 911 leather interior everything had to fit in the truck, so not much room. Quote:

That does not even have my helmet bag, bag of tools, or the car wash bag. All of that I just left in the car as they are useless in the motel room.
The trick is lots of small bags. Ya gotta love change for the sake of change, and "A new and improved" way to do things. I got a 4 page letter from my insurance company. We have our house and three cars insured by the same folks. We have for 20 years or so, same company. Back then I set up automatic bill pay. I don't have to do a dang thing, but make sure to earn enough income to keep the account replenished. All that time, they sent me a letter notification when the prices went up, and what the new monthly charge was going to be. Now they have an all new web page and options to do it differently. They will change my account number, and have to send new insurance cards, and they said the accounts would all have the same account numbers now. Well duh, the two policies are the same policy number now. So I get a new number, and somehow that is an improvement. It worked perfectly for two decades, and now it is improved? I don't get it. |
More rain today. Dang all it does is rain. ;)
It looks like I will be mowing this afternoon if the rain stops. The car is partially loaded. It will be all loaded except our two "personal" bags with the toothbrushes and other necessary items, and one clean shirt, and some underwear. That way we don't have to haul it all out of the car, just the needed items, one small bag each. I of course log the doors, and the trunk is locked with the key. I disable the ignition, so no one is going to start it. It looks like our departure my be delayed due to weather. They are predicting heavy rain, and possible hail that will all go along I-44 and follow us. We have a 10 hour drive tomorrow. |
