So, they printed me off two pictures that are seriously off color.... Girl is supposed to play with the printer and see if she can make them better by this afternoon, if not I may be running to walgreens in El Reno....

Thanks G-man!

Mrs. Carrera will love it.

Porsche-poor 01-26-2011 12:06 PM

ok mac users is there away to make a mac read a MS works (not a word file) document? My son has access to macs at school but pc at home.

GH85Carrera 01-26-2011 12:10 PM

I don't have a Mac but I know people that do. :)

I feel sure your son can do a "save as" a RTF or rich text format and open that in any word processor. Unless he has some fancy fonts or formatting it should work just fine.

Geronimo '74 01-26-2011 12:15 PM

Strange that they use mac at school.
PC is so much more widely used (still)
RTF format is pretty universal, so that could work. (I don't know the first thing about Mac tho...)

Porsche-poor 01-26-2011 12:21 PM

yeah it drives me nuts that all the schools have them and yet I have never seen an office with one in the industry I work in or the wife either. My younger kids school was doing a fund raiser for a computer lab and I told them only if its not pc's in it.......

Geronimo '74 01-26-2011 12:29 PM

Mac is very common in the graphic industry.
For all the rest, not so much.

Porsche-poor 01-26-2011 12:33 PM

yep its a shame. I do CAD for a living and have no use for a mac at this point. For me its all client driven, they get what they want.

GH85Carrera 01-26-2011 12:44 PM

I love this one bit of wisdom and truth

"A Mac makes many difficult tasks very easy, and some very simple tasks completely impossible"

For the most part the choice of computer platform is just a matter of what you are used to. We run several programs here that are integral to our business, that will never run on a Mac OS.

Porsche-poor 01-26-2011 12:51 PM

I like that saying!!!!!!!

Evening gents.

Sooo....... G-man stands for gif-man?

Finally made it home. Got within 8 miles of the house and came up on a house fire and every piece of fire fighting apparatus in a 50 mile radius is parked in the road. Sat there for about 45
mins. till the state troopers finally got all the cars behind me turned around. Then it's my turn
except i have to back up about an 1/8 of a mile to find a spot big enough to turn a 70 foot long rig around.
then it's either go back to the interstate and go north 12 miles and come in the back way or run a bunch of snow covered dirt roads. I took the snow covered route. Luckily they had them sanded good so i didn't have to chain up.
Got some cell phone pictures of the fire but i don't have cell service here so i can't send them to the lap top. Is there another way to get pics. off the phone?

Geronimo '74 01-26-2011 01:09 PM

G-man is "short" for Geronimo of course. the animated gif is just something I'm looking into a bit now, until I find something else to waste my time on....

Can't you transfer the pics using blue teeth?

Rick V 01-26-2011 01:17 PM

Evening guys, okay today we started out with some good rains, then that changed to heavy sleet, then to the now falling heavy snow. Saw lots of nice accidents on the way home, most involving brand new shiny 4X4's..........................go figure

pete3799 01-26-2011 01:17 PM

I don't have blue teeth:D
See there white.
Seriously i wouldn't know a blue tooth if it bit me.

pete3799 01-26-2011 01:19 PM

Not me Rick.
I'm wayyyyyyy up here.

Rick V 01-26-2011 01:21 PM

I am mad at you Pete!!!!!!!!!!!!
grrrrrrrrrrrr even

pete3799 01-26-2011 01:37 PM

Hey ...at least it isn't -22* like it was here while i was gone.
A couple of rain storms to wash the salt off and you'll be out with Lanna in no time.

Rick V 01-26-2011 01:40 PM

But it is snowing now....................waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Glad to hear you made it home in tact.

porsche4life 01-26-2011 01:47 PM

Open office is the answer to 99% of word type document problems. Works on both platforms as well.

Porsche-poor 01-26-2011 01:50 PM

great thanks for the input. I'll have to look into that.
