Just kicking back for the most part, Scott. Down at Willow Springs every month racing the bikes. I'll drag the 993 down to OC sometime soon and we'll all have to meet up again. Its been too long.

Yes it has. I miss the barbecues at your house.

F***!!!

I guess we really will see who the better drivers are.

(Putting on red car conspiracy theory hat.)

And it's not like the ban on testing ever really applied to Ferrari anyway!

cl8ton 07-29-2009 10:03 AM

WOW was I ever WAY wrong :( Actually would be nice seeing MS on the track!
Wonder if Varsha or is it Hobbs will refer to him as "Ralph's brother"? whats that about?

The Legend Returns: Schumacher back in Formula One as Massa's replacement
07/29/09, 1:58 pm et
After several days of speculation, Ferrari announced on Wednesday that seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher will indeed replace the injured Felipe Massa in next month's European Grand Prix in Valencia, Spain.
An announcement on Ferrari's Web site said that Schumacher, 40, will begin training immediately to make sure he is in shape for his comeback and that he is ready to go. Schumacher suffered some injuries during the winter after crashing a racing motorcycle, and the team needs to be sure he is fit. Regardless, the news comes as a strange contradiction to what the 40-year-old German's manager, Willi Weber, told the Daily Mail in comments published Tuesday. Webber said that he was "200 percent" sure that Schumacher would not fill the vacant seat. However,...

VERY COOL!

I hope that he does better with his return than MANSELL ! J/K!

BRPORSCHE 07-29-2009 10:43 AM

Oh man am I excited!!!!!!

legion 07-29-2009 10:43 AM

Is Schumacher going to be able to walk away when Massa recovers?

motion 07-29-2009 10:56 AM

I hope not!

MotoSook 07-29-2009 11:03 AM

MS has been chasing speed since he left F1. I'm guessing that if he's mildly successful, and there is a team owner willing to pay him, he will continue in F1. That could be just hopeful thinking...one can't possible know what is exactly in his head.

But this is going to be great fun! The season has been pretty mundane...

MS and Ferarri said in the CNN bit that he would walk away when Massa was back together enough to race again.

So he will continue to accrue points for Ferrari right? But Massa (who wasn't in the running anyway) will just stop and MS points will start right?

I kinda hope he wins one.

Actually, 'Ralf's brother'.

bell 07-29-2009 01:08 PM

i really hope he does well, kimis car was close to pace, and we know MS has the talent to drive on the knifes edge which is F1.......

strupgolf 07-29-2009 01:24 PM

Well finally a bit of juice into F1, after some crazy type season on the books. This will be fun to watch.

David 07-29-2009 01:32 PM

Some young Spaniard will win and Schumacher will come in third and they'll argue about tactics. Oh wait, wrong sport.

Zeke 07-29-2009 01:35 PM

Yeah, well when Mika came back, he sucked. I don't think you leave F1 and return.

Niki Lauda came back from retirement and won a third championship. Then again wouldn't it suck if MS got knocked out of 1st round qualifying...?

w21055 07-29-2009 03:35 PM

For the record MS has driven F1 cars with plenty of more power and No traction control. No KERS (lousy Idea any way)These cars are different but the dude was a machine at learning and getting his body ready. He lived at Enzo's house next to the track all the time to train. Seems like in one of my Forza mags, he was driving F1 cars (not current) at FXX events and such very recently.
This season has been pretty blagh until now, just wished they were on this side of the pond again.

Well, it hasn't happened yet, there's quite a bit of time before the next race and plenty can happen.

But I have no problem admitting to being very surprised that it is even on the table at this point!

I still have some doubts it will actually happen, but I sure hope it does. I haven't watched an F1 race in quite a while. I've been an F1 fan going back to the 80s, and kept watching because of the rare talent that was there with Senna, Prost, and the greatest driver of all time, Schumacher.

Every one of his races was history in the making, with perhaps a once in a lifetime driver. After he left, I pretty much quit watching.

If he does race, it will certainly be the most watched race in history, maybe the most watched single sporting event in history.
