Gibbs racing and the coyote

A friend emailed me this. Don't know if this is true, didn't look it up but reminded me of Nostatic and the freeway coyote. Sorry if it has been posted before.

Careful kinda gruesome

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Brad Coleman was testing a Gibbs NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car at Toyota Arizona Proving Grounds earlier this week and came onto the radio and told his crew something rather unusual.

"Guys, I hit a coyote," Coleman said.

Coleman was running close to 200 mph around the 10-mile test track when he saw the animal wander under the outside guardrail.

"I'm in the middle of the corner, and I'm doing like 190," Coleman said Friday at Nashville Superspeedway before practicing his Nationwide Series car. "I'm just cruising. You run the high line there, because that's where the most banking is. It's the high-speed lane. There's just a guardrail there like on the freeway.

"I see this thing, it must've been 100 feet in front of me, just jump out. Right when I saw it come out from under the guardrail, I was like, 'That's a coyote.'"

"It just started smoking like crazy," Coleman said. "And it smelled terrible. I didn't see anything in the mirror, so I was like, 'I wonder where it went?' I said, 'Guys, I hit a coyote. I'm going to come in because I think it screwed up the radiator. I think it clogged up the grille a little bit.'"

Gnarly.

A guy in our local club has an open top race car. He hit a rabbit at high speed and had to duck pieces of it coming through the cockpit. Chunks were hanging on the wires of his spoiler as the story goes. Then again, stories like that get better with age :)

This will soon become a "I can top that story" thread.

Sure, these pics are ok, but artful nudity is a ban-able offense...

I knew a guy that was killed when a deer was struck by another car, then went through his truck windshield. Deer hits are pretty common around here also, most people I know have hit one. Scary schitt.

Pics removed. While it is important to be reminded of the dangers of hitting animals out there, graphic pictures of dead animals imbedded into the fronts of vehicles is not necessary to ge the point across.

I knew a guy that was killed after he hit a deer, it went through his windshield, and kicked him to death.

What a way to go.

They have a real deer problem in central NY right now- I visiting my family up there and from Syracuse to Utica on 90, I must have seen 20 deer along the road.

The sad thing, is there is an easy solution to this problem that will make the state money, and they still won't do it...

I'm surprised no one has pushed the liability side of this. The state regulates hunting, claiming "ownership" of game animals. Kind of like feudal England. So if they "own" them (so they can regulate us poor peasants' hunting of them), it seems they should be liable if "their" animals cause problems.

Deer have made a pretty remarkable comeback in the U.S. Some estimates claim there are actually more deer today than when Columbus landed. And now lots of folks have had enough; live with a good population of them for even just a little while, and they are not so adorable anymore. In addition to being a hazard on the road, they can cause significant property damage, and forget trying to have a garden. They eat everything.

Deer hunting? Then, use the deer meat to feed the homeless.

If there's one thing I learned from cartoons, it's that the coyote never wins.
