Why Paul? Because a non-Porsche blew up? Should we all dance a jig? I've seen plenty of Porsches blow up on the track as well. Nothing is completely bullet proof.

That looks like my home track. Now I understand why sometimes there's bizarre skids in the middle of the main straight.

speeder 08-02-2009 02:46 PM

Everything breaks @ the track, Porsches just break a lot less than everything else. That's what makes them great, not 0-60 times or "most car for the $$" awards.

Rick Lee 08-02-2009 03:19 PM

That looks just like Summit Point.

Scooter 08-02-2009 03:55 PM

P-car loyalist here...and I say that sucks!

afterburn 549 08-02-2009 04:02 PM

BAD for anyone.......of course a Porsche has never blown up....Corus "right"!

Only after pulling away pretty good from the POS grocery getter driving behind it. :D

Nice footage - thanks for sharing.

Oh man! That's awful. Too bad for the Corvette owner and good driving by the following driver to avoid that mess. What was he in, btw? I don't recognize the dash. Mustang?

VINMAN 08-02-2009 05:48 PM

I think Paul is being a little sarcastic. Due to the fact that alot of the guys on here are always trashing Vettes.

Am I right?

Yes.

It looks like a WRX and it sucks for the Z06 guy, you never want that to happen to anyone out on the track.

I guess i am weird, never wanted a Vette....How ever they probably do not want a P car either.......I hope that nether camp is is sitting around ready to gloat over some one elves adversity.
As I understand it they are a car to be "reckoned " with any more.

Very memorable experience- Just entering main straight at Pacific Raceways, and I notice a puff of smoke in the cabin. "That's strange" I thought...... Then I looked in my rear-view mirror, and saw nothing but a fog bank. "That's strange, it's a clear day"....

At 100+ mph, I simply killed the ignition, and coasted to the nearest flagging station, as they have fire extinguishers, and exited the car quickly.

Nice thing about racing a 944. Turned out not to be too catastrophic. Missed qualifying, but was able to make the race by starting at the back of the grid.

I feel bad for anybody who drives his street car for a fun day at the track and ends up needing a ride home on a flatbed.

charleskieffner 08-20-2009 02:53 PM
