This little jewell was seriously quick. I can only imagine what that beast can do.

onewhippedpuppy 08-03-2009 12:20 PM

Speed of light, at least.

Most likely owned by the US Govt. because no one in their right mind would want to pay the fuel bill. Bet it cost close to $200K just to rig the thing and I would guess it's not better than 60 kts. There comes a point where the stuff hanging in the water defeats the added power.

Either that or it belongs to some a$$hat w/ more money than brains!

i didnt want to post the back story, because it may not be true...apparently the story with the boat, is that it was making multiple runs across the english channel. authorities had to bring in a special high speed helicopter to catch the boat...that was full of drugs. until then it was just a high speed "blip",.

i dont know squat. any truth? who knows..i didnt even know there was a huge drug movement across the channel.

Could it be a test platform for a dealer/mfg? Or used as a tugboat? Gotta have mad torque....

Tishabet 08-03-2009 12:41 PM

70MPH

svandamme 08-03-2009 12:44 PM

so i was pretty close...

i figured a boat that short/wide can't go to fast, no matter how much power you add, at some point it won't go faster then it does

dhoward 08-03-2009 12:46 PM

Special, 75 mph helicopter...

vash 08-03-2009 12:49 PM

you guys are good!

damn, a bass boat can do that...

widgeon13 08-03-2009 12:52 PM

I think the special helo was to go that slow, no biig deal for a copter to keep up with that, just media BS.

svandamme 08-03-2009 12:59 PM

depends, maybe it's not about chase speed, but intercept speed

Let's assume they crossed at one of the narrower sections of the English Channel, and they are not detected right away on radar...
How fast does a chopper have to be , to get there fast enough before they are back on dry land (i also assume the thing can be hauled out of the sea rather quickly)

dhoward 08-03-2009 01:11 PM

Yikes.
It was a joke...

Same thing.

That boat would probably run the same speed with half those engines. Between the extra weight, drag in the water and the prop cavitation from all that hardware kicking around back there.

That was my first thought.

what about running with a super heavy cargo..like several hundred pounds of special delivery from "white powder MA"?

speeder 08-03-2009 07:07 PM

Here's the fast boat I want. What do you think, Vinny?
