Computer experts: Can't access email on one computer, but can on another ???

Email will open (yahoo), on my old computer (Windows 98), but will not open on my newer emachine (XP). I try to log in on the newer machine, and for several seconds I see the line welcome at the top of the browser, but then the connection status, sent-receive, stops "flashing." Any thoughts? (The older machine logs in fine.) Thank you.

Browser is MS Internet Explorer..however it worked fine to log in to yahoo up until about a week or so. And it logs in fine elsewhere (including Pelican here) , but it won't any longer for yahoo email only.

You are not logged in from another machine at the same time are you?

Should not make a diff for internet/browser based mail but I have noticed that some of those services are now monitoring and alerting for concurrent connections.

Try deleting cookies or logging in from the other machine and hitting the logout button/link then try from the XP machine again.

Download Firefox and give that a go also.

Well, you can try clearing your browser cache (control panel --> internet options --> I can't remember, something about deleting files). My guess is that one of the automatic updates killed it. You can try firefox or chrome or safari or Opera. I'd start with Firefox, then Opera, then Chrome, then Safari.

HGP, aren't you the guy that bought the car with the thrashed heads and wouldn't tell anyone where you are? How's the car running? I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that you'd gotten it fixed and going. I'm glad to see that you're still around (assuming that's you that I'm remembering).

Tried the deleting cookie thing and log out from other machine (other machine yahoo email still working fine), .....but then came back to the XP machine and same problem. Tried various things for two days now....no go, just a blank page .

So tonight I just logged into the yahoo mail with the XP machine, same blank page came up...but this tme I decided to let it sit there for about 10 minutes. Sat blank for about 10 minutes and the mail page finally opened up....however it's a stripped down version with all blue highlighted folders... takes about 5-10 minutes just to open a folder.

That's actually typical of a piece of redirect malware.

I did a scan, and nothing showed (no adware, spyware, other programs), so today I decided to open two seperate windows both with the same log-in page. So instead I logged in through the second window, and the normal email came up fine.

I'll try that again next time, and see what happens.
