What's wrong with my eye?

Hello, amateur (and professional) doctors. SmileWavy

My left eyelid (this pic is mirrored) is swollen underneath my eye. My cheekbone feels kind of sore, maybe like I got punched, but not very hard. It doesn't hurt bad, but it's really annoying. No liquid or anything coming out of my eye.

Do I have an infected tear duct or something? I don't know if I can get to a doctor today, and it's just annoying and kinda ugly. Any guesses?

Thanks

No, I got the gonoherpesyphylaids vaccine.

Since having kids, I have had several eye infections. One with symptoms like you describe. Stuff the kids pick up at daycare and bring home.

My advice if you can't get to a doc? Call your friends with kids. They'll have a tube of the pink eye medicine in a drawer from last time they had it. Probably it will clear up in 12 hours once treated.

Note, I am not a doctor. That's just what I would do if I were in your situation. I hate that infected eye feeling.

I'm sure others will chime in about the dangers of using somebody's prescription without a doc. Flame suit on. :)

Good luck.

No worries, Martin. I've got my "asking for medical opinions on an automobile enthusiast website" flame suit on. Never hurts to get some ideas during breakfast, though.

You just look a little sad on the one side. Cheer up!

Gogar 08-07-2009 12:06 PM

Fixed it; I just tossed a leech on it for about 20 minutes.

And you were making fun of my appearance?

Wow. ;)

Rot 911 08-07-2009 02:10 PM

I have no good advice. However, I do have a tendency to squeeze infected areas on my own body and see what comes out. Probably better than a leech.

Blocked oil gland (stye)? Had one a few years back, hurt pretty bad for a few days.;)

svandamme 08-07-2009 02:15 PM

i recommend amputation

rouxroux 08-07-2009 02:16 PM

Do you wear contacts? If so, I'd suggest not wearing them until it goes away.

RPKESQ 08-07-2009 02:18 PM

Just poke that sum'***** out and be done with it!

After all, just think of it as a spare.

g/f (optometrist) says "Prob some clogged tear glands that could turn into a stye...hard to tell from the pic and description alone, bit would be my best guess. Can try hot compress and gentle massage over closed eyes two to four times a day to feel better."

Sinus infection?...try using a netti-pot with 1/2 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide. It works for me.

If you are looking to this bag of nuts for help with your eye, where do you usually turn for help with your Porsche?

quicksix 08-07-2009 04:34 PM

Try a warm compress, monitor and if not better see your md

Seriously, though...Bells palsy or Ramsey-Hunt syndrome?

Any other symptoms?

artplumber 08-07-2009 09:39 PM

I don't think I've ever seen a pic of you, buddy. All you ever post is that picture of that chick with the wet blonde hair. :p

Gogar 08-08-2009 01:55 PM

Oh yeah, and the eyeball thing seems to be going away. Thank you all for your insightful comments.
