Lightbulb The hydrogen hybrid

They say the future of the car is hydrogen power, but that future seems far, far away.

Until now. The hydrogen hybrid, what do you think? I reckon it's worth a look.

Engine runs with gas and hydrogen, it burns more efficient, cooler, more power, increases the life of the engine.

HydroGen Power Website

Quote:
After the engine starts, our patent-pending system (which uses pure distilled water) begins an electrolysis process that safely releases both hydrogen and oxygen gases. This mixture is then delivered to the combustion chamber (directly into the air intake) where it becomes a catalyst to help your current fuel burn completely.
The HydroGen 1000 System is designed specifically for cars and light-duty trucks up to 7.5 liters. This finely crafted unit is a perfect fit for the family car or work truck.

Q. How do I maintain my HydroGen System?

A. When a Certified Master Installer first installs your HydroGen System, it will contain the proper amounts of distilled water and HydroBoost. Over time, the distilled water will dissipate as hydrogen and oxygen gases are released. The System processes approximately 1 gallon of water every 1,500 to 2,000 miles, depending on driving habits, as well as road, weather, and engine conditions. The water level in the unit should be checked as the vehicle is filled with fuel. Be sure to park on a level surface when performing fluid level checks. This will ensure that a correct water level is maintained in the unit, providing optimum performance. Simply pour the distilled water into the refill location until the plates inside the unit are covered. Make sure to read the instructions in the User’s Guide. (Please read note about the User’s Guide at the end of this section.)

Q. How much distilled water do we put in the HydroGen System?

A. The HydroGen 1000 holds just slightly under one gallon of liquid, at the top of the plates.
The HydroGen 2000 holds 3 gallons of liquid, at the top of the plates.

Q. Can I use any kind of water to fill my HydroGen System?

A. No. The HydroGen System requires distilled water.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use regular tap water in the HydroGen System -it can cause damage to the system and will void the warranty.

Not very likely. The website states that it can only be installed by a certified master installer, whatever that means.

Hydrogen in it's final form as fuel is great, but to get it to that form uses a great deal of electricity, so much so that the production pollutants far outweigh the lack of emissions from the engine.
From a "green" standpoint it is counter productive. (just like the Prius)

interesting

but I'd bet on Honda, BMW, MB or others who are developing and testing H-fuel cell cars

BMW already has one, it was started on the E38 platform if I remember correctly. I don't think they are planning production. I gave up giving a chit a few years ago

You can lease a Honda Clarity in California, $600 for insurance+car+fuel. They intend to start selling them all over in 2018. I remember it being $8 a kg for fuel and 60 miles to the kg. Filling it up takes about 10 mins and their designing a home energy station for it that also powers your house based on Solar or natural gas.

Warning, it's a bit hard on the eyes. No more ugly than the Prius, but no better.

I got to drive one of these in 2010, and it's the closest thing to our current definition of a "actual car" You put fuel in it, it goes, it runs out you pull in and fuel it up again.

GM has had Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles on the road since 2007, and has put over 2.5 million miles on the fleet so far. It is given to a broad range of joe-blow common folk to use for three months at a time. Google "Project Driveway"

Whatever this is the OP posted is vaporware

Cellaenergy's fuel cell looks interesting - eliminates the dangerous storage problems normally associated with hydrogen.

SoCal, NYC, DC, and a couple European cities

They built 119 of them, and they collected over 2 million miles of real-world data

It's just another iron in the fire, another possibility to research. It ties directly to the Voltec program as well. Who knows what technologies will ultimately prevail.
