Be prepaired

Not really where I was going with this but it sounded fun in a paranoid type of way. I'm 6-4 and I don't even know they are up there. I was very surprised. Just installed the new rack.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1249760247.jpg

Nothing wrong with packin' some firepower, but I really am NOT diggin' that you drilled through the roof of a 67-72 Chevrolet pickup.

They are very dear to my heart and increasingly collectable. The last one I had went down the road for three times what I paid for it and over a million on the clock. Love 'em.

Fear not, Look at my cig. No offense but I would never own another GM product on a drunken bet and I quit drinking years ago.

MotoSook 08-08-2009 11:57 AM

Nice..and if some tries to car jack you a "get you hands in the air!" action will put the trigger in nice proximity...KABOOM sucka! LOL!

Joeaksa 08-08-2009 12:27 PM

Very nice! Keep it up!

You wouldn't own a Grand National?

Yeah to roll for a quick buck but not to own for my own.

Joeaksa 08-08-2009 01:07 PM

Wonder what the first traffic stop is going to be like!?

Rick V 08-08-2009 01:15 PM

Already had that conversation with my son, He figured it would go something like this. "Sir may I see your...........................Holy crap, expecting trouble?"
Fortunately I am legal here in Va as long as they arn't loaded. That is what the 45acp under the seat is for. I installed the rack so it is easier to tote the long guns when I go shooting.

scottmandue 08-08-2009 01:25 PM

Did you make those yourself or did you buy them?

If you bought them can you post a link?

I would like to mount my 870 inside my closet like that.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I ordered it from Wal-Mart, a whopping $35. It was an online only item. I was gonna post ya the link but it seems to be NLA.

Yup, and although it made the seats very friendly when dropping the right foot, I detest the way GM assembles stuff.
As for the guns those are my knock around shotguns.
The one is a Remington 870 police mag, with the flip stock, 7 round mag, slug barrel and adjustable rear sight.
The long one is a Mosberg bolt action 12 ga. with muzzle break and select choke. I like the removable mag. East to quick load.

svandamme 08-08-2009 02:01 PM

how much weight did that little hobby add to the top of the vehicle?
how does it affect the high-G-corner handling? Number of seconds/lap lost
?

Jims5543 08-08-2009 02:02 PM

Man, I am not sure I could reach up that high to grab one of those. :D

Porsche-O-Phile 08-08-2009 02:08 PM

Not a bad idea.

Doesn't work too well with a targa roof though.

They make those trucks so you can drive with your hat on comfortably.

Nice set up

Joeaksa 08-14-2009 07:52 PM

Very nice Jeremy!

cashflyer 08-15-2009 04:55 AM

Sorry Rick, I think Jeremy's setup has you beat.

That setup would work perfect in my 911. I've been having a hell of a time trying to find a good rear-window gunrack for that car. The window slant is so steep that every time I brake, the shotgun falls out of the rack.

Well, if you get stopped by law enforcement you can take solace in being "legal but stupid - there is no way the cop can know they aren't loaded" while picking the pea gravel out of your face after being rolled onto the ground next to the highway and cuffed as a precaution.

m21sniper 08-15-2009 08:21 AM

Jim in what reality do you live? Lots of people have gun racks and don't have any of that nonsense happen to them.

Jim Sims 08-15-2009 08:36 AM

Not where they are "handy for quick, nearly concealed action" and the cop can't see them until it is almost too late. Too many law enforcement personnel have been slaughtered during traffic stops; they are now appropriately very wary - as in take immediate, defensive action and ask questions later.

Losing a couple of lawsuits might cure them of that then. We have rights and being rolled around on the ground for nothing is not included in this.

+1

I used to have a full gun-rack in my pickup and never, ever had a problem.

The only reason I don't have a rack now is that a rifle was stolen from my truck once. I decided a handgun in the console was better than a rifle in the window.

Of course, unlike NM, this is a Red state.

If a cop can't see the bolt opened on the Mosberg, and the slide pulled back on the 870, then he has no biz with a badge.
He opens my door I own him. There is no felony, there is no broken laws, there is no probable cause, therefore my vehicle is private property and subject to the same protection as my home.
It may not be your cup of tea, but it is mine. To call me stupid, without knowing all the facts, or the laws that govern my state is stepping just a tad out of bounds. You may think me stupid, but the other side of the coin is that I now find you to be ignorant.
Besides, what part of, I only carry the long guns when I go shooting did you not understand?

Jeromy,
Nice setup, I like.
