Michael Vick signs with Eagles

ESPN reports he signed for one year and a second year option. If I heard this correct he is to receive 1.6m and a possible 2.45m the 2nd year.

How long will it take for McNabb to throw a fit?

Jesus, WTF!!?!?!?!??!?!

m21sniper 08-13-2009 06:09 PM

Strictly speaking from an NFL standpoint, he's a damn good backup/insurance policy, but from a moral standpoint, it's reprehensible.

Micheal Vick is a scum bag.

Don Ro 08-13-2009 06:13 PM

That team and that area seem fitting for him...
being under the influence of an impoverished psychological atmosphere that he is.
I believe it's called "Loss of Self."

924slover 08-13-2009 06:18 PM

They should have just locked him in the cage with the same dogs he tortured.

charleskieffner 08-13-2009 06:33 PM

does DON FELDER KNOW ABOUT THIS?

do ya think don henley and vick will get along?

Gogar 08-13-2009 06:40 PM

Michael Vick is no more/less of a scumbag than a lot of those fellas,

He's just the one that got caught.

pwd72s 08-13-2009 07:23 PM

May they lose to The Detroit Lions...:(

Pro athletes get paid by a team to represent a team in their sport. When are owners and commissioners going to stop putting up with reprehensible behavior, especially what they pay these guys. These are so called pro athletes, so pro meaning professional. which is an attitue about your conduct.

Get the thugs out of pro sports. There are enough hard working decent guys to take their place.

LOL...good question.

Bet the population of PB's goes up dramatically in Philly as well as the dog fight game!

What a POS.

Isn't going to Philly roughly the same?

greglepore 08-14-2009 08:17 AM

Well, I gotta say, I didn't like this at first but:

a) Just listened to Jeff Lurie, a bleeding heart liberal guy, who seemed really sincere about Vick's state of mind being penitent, and wanting to "save more animals than he hurt". Dogfighting is a huge inner city problem, and to the extent that Vick's community involvement, along w/ Lurie's money, can bring attention to it, all the better. Lurie pledged pr dollars equal to Vick's contract.
Another thing is that Reid, b/c of his family problems, likely knows a thing or two about redemption and second chances. I'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, it might be a story w/ a happy ending.
And, frankly, the Eagles are going to take a huge pr hit, and I have to admire their commitment and balz.

b) as an Eagles fan, can you imagine a backfield w/ McNabb, Vick, and Westbrook spread in the shotgun, with the snap going to any of the three, or Vick on a reverse, or Vick as a wideout w/ DeShawn? Wow.

And as to the McNabb haters, he was the guy that pushed for this. Really.

In his interview, Vick referred to dog fighting as a cultural activity. Is that true? A social activity I can understand, but "cultural."

McNabb and Vick are reportedly good friends. McNabb endorsed it before the deal was done.

That's hardly even possible.

There are already gillions of minority owned (and most likely fought) Pitbulls in this city.

Cock fighting was a cultural activity primarily in the Atlantic South and Vick being from that area he is probably going by how they view the "sport" as a cultural thing. Much like "moonshining" was a cultural activity/need to the deep south.

Disclaimer..... if my comment on McNabb is taken in a hateful way it was not intended to be. I hate no one I do not know personally. Just he has had some tough times w/T.O. and such perhaps it would anger him with Vick now a part of the team.

Philly is more dangerous.

Dogfighting is very much a cultural thing in our inner cities.

ALL of them from what i hear.

Seahawk 08-14-2009 10:17 AM

If it wasn't for second chances, I would have had no chance at all.

What he did was reprehensible and no one loves dogs more than I do.
