Who needs a bullet proof vest?

They've got an app for that...

Always carry an iPhone against 9mm

Pretty cool man.

red-beard 08-14-2009 01:09 PM

I was very surprised to see, after the 1st round to the middle, that a 9mm didn't penetrate!

teenerted1 08-14-2009 01:25 PM

mythbusters here we come

Rick V 08-14-2009 02:22 PM

Yes but,
Will it blend?

If anyone needs an actual bullet proof vest i have a Safariland class IIIA with carrier(will stop 240gr .44mag) for sale.

$300.00 and it's yours.

I've got to wonder if he used an 85 grain frangible bullet or 147 grain FMJ?

Problem is the phone isn't set against a hard stop. It can fly off and carry some of the energy with it. Can't do that if it is in your shirt pocket.

At any rate, that's a tough phone. Get one of those and a .357

The lesson here is clearly when trying to kill an iPhone user, a high-powered rifle is best.

masraum 08-14-2009 08:22 PM

Or, if you can't get the $300 to Sniper, then you need a photography vest (lots of pockets) and a dozen or two Iphones. Then, Viola, you've got the hippest body armor ever!

I like the music.

No problem, should be covered by warranty.

Did this happen after you installed Vista for the first time?

Porsche-O-Phile 08-14-2009 10:34 PM

I'd have used a 12 gauge personally.

Neat production on the video. I hope Apple sees this.

HardDrive 08-16-2009 08:50 PM

I dunno, looked like the bullets went right through to me. The back of the case is tough nylon plastic. Looks like it simply ripped the plastic rather than making a clean hole.

Not saying an iphone couldn't absorb a great deal of energy. Its a 1cm thick sandwich of glass, metal and circuit board (itself a sandwich of copper and epoxy resin).

porsche4life 08-16-2009 08:56 PM

I think he should have sent in to Apple with a "please warranty" card before he burned it. Maybe a jumpdrive with the video too?
