I can definately say that the first one is Runway 24 with about 600RVR. Yes, legal for takeoff with an alternate somewhere else.

Looks like Florida . . . but none of the big airports . . . #3 looks like Port St Lucie area . . .

OK. #2 is Melbourne (Google Earth told me so). But # 3 is not Lucie. Doesn't look right for Stuart either but close . . . #4 is East Coast Florida but somewhere to the north due to the slim outer banks & low density.

ok,
#1 is Nantucket, # 2 is indeed Melbourne, Fl. #3 is not in Florida, #4 you're very close! |
#3 St. Simon's Island GA
#4 St Augustine FL Google maps again to the rescue . . . Were you passing by or landing? Pretty small airports . . . Ian |
Correct..
Just passing this time, but we land at SSI all the time. How are you finding these on google maps? |
I am a geographer's son & I have extremely good visual recall both on the ground & in the air. Looking at your pictures, I narrow it down to a locality by geographic features & google maps confirms it. I spend a lot of time staring out airplane windows as a passenger.
On the ground I have scary recall. I can remember locations from places I visited 30 years ago. And tell you how to drive there. Freaks my wife out. Since I am a road warrior, its not a bad talent to have. Ian |
Second one down definitely makes it KMLB - I know it well (got my Private, Commercial, Instrument, CFI, CFII and MEI certificates there... ;) ).
