We have tons of these little bastards here in Florida. I've been attacked so many times I've lost count. I have actually gotten sick once from it.

Where is Chlordane now that we need it?

Amdro works great to kill mounds, and I use "Over and Out" as a preventer. I just had a "stray" ant from someone else's yard.

Papain, the active ingredient in meat tenderizer, is a protease(enzyme that breaks down protein) also works for bee stings. Make into a paste, apply to affected area.

There are fire ants in SoCal, they are just not widespread, yet.
