Grace slick, age 70 and not gracefully ;-)

I saw an interview with Grace slick on the news last night. Eeeewwww.
Talk about a bitter, mean old hag. Unlpleasant would be a very kind way to describe her.
Kinda blows the fantasy, she didn't end up how I expected at all.

Hippies don't age well.

I listened to the "Woodstock channel" on and off over the weekend. I was struck by how much the Airplane sucked.

Not sure I'd call Grace a hippie.

She was a bit of a debutant to begin with. Was a model before she became a singer.

She's always been very out spoken and a bit of a trouble maker.

Kind of like a female Jim Morrison.

She retired from music because she thought old rock stars just looked stupid.

Carlos Santana was the only act that sounded half way decent at Woodstock. All others sucked IMHO

Back in the day she was HOT...

But booze, blow and blow jobs have taken their toll.

Ohhh I do like the Aeroplane...especially the 69 era stuff.

Richie Havens. Freedom/Motherless child was a complete improv. Some of the acts were stuck in traffic so they sent Havens out and told him to stretch. He only left the stage when he ran out of songs.

I thought it was a great performance.

10 years after...Alvin Lee on the guitar & vocals...he rocked the joint!

Shuie 08-17-2009 07:56 PM

Alvin Lee rocked just about everything he ever did :)

Yeah but the one on the right looks like she's a 200 yo vampire

juanbenae 08-17-2009 08:37 PM

she is a kook all out. there have been thinks in the news here in the bay area about her chasing people off her property in marin with a shot gun & brawling with her neighbors. i imagine there's a pill for that

Ten Years After...I'm Going Home....16 minutes of rock and roll nirvana...

I saw them at the Shrine Auditorium in LA in mid 74...one of the last tours they did.

Still not bad for a Broad in her 70's.....

She says that she screwed Jim Morrison about the time the Doors did their Matrix sets in mid 67.., but also like Morrison was tooo stoned to remember much...other than it was just another fk.

In one of her interviews she says she was really drunk one night and pulled over to the side of the road in her Aston Martin, pulled the keys out of the ignition and a bit later the cops pulled up and tried to arrest her fro drunk driving, but couldn't because the keys were out of the ignition. Therfore they could not prove she was driving.

I like the Aeroplane song off the Volunteers album called "Hey Fredrick"

Gracie could really belt out the songs back then..

BTW I always thought the Starship su(ked

I met a gal here in LV who was originally from Oakland and by 67 was living in the Haight selling L for a buck a hit. She was friends with Janis, knew Morrison who she says was a real introvert. A coupla years later she married the Bass Player for Little Anthony and the Imperials. saw Jimmy play Berkley, who they thought was a God. Her husband can be seen in the film Gimme Shelter, all she remembers about Altamont is being stoned. Later she worked for the WHO on their 82 tour. I suspect that she might have done more then just shake hands and say HI with Morrison and Jimmy.

Edgar Winter's White Trash album was derigour when I went to that University in CA by the Sea and Beach...Tobacco Road and Livin in the USA with Rick Derringer..."All I wana do is ROCK and ROLL...YEAHHH"

Canned Heats..."Sic Em Pigs"..If your big dumb and stupid call...555-5555 the LA County Sheriffs Department wants you."

Mountain...Lesley West, Felix Papalardi and I think Carmen Aspice...."Tale of an Imaginary Western" ....and of course you know what I mean a Mississippi Queen." Felix was later stabbed to death by his wife in 77.

targa911S 08-18-2009 04:24 AM

Grace has always been a biotch. Always will be.

targa911S 08-18-2009 04:25 AM

Mountain...Lesley West, Felix Papalardi and I think Carmen Aspice...."Tale of an Imaginary Western" .

That would have been Corky Lang.

Shuie 08-18-2009 06:11 AM

Appice was Vanilla Fudge and Cactus, not Mountain :)

Must be difficult to do your best work by age 25, spend the rest of your life as a has-been, and have zero professional opportunities by age 40. I'd be bitter too.
