Wow, you guys have some great set ups. I am still using a large brew pot and glass carboys. I just got back in the game after a ten year hiatus.
My first brew was a hoppy holiday ale. It was delicious. Better than expected and I gave most of it away over the holidays. I want to hold on to some to try later to see how the flavor profile changes with time. The one I had last night was much tastier than the one I had after the bottle conditioning for two weeks. I bottled a rye pale ale this week. A lot of hops in this batch as Mary and I tend to like IPAs. I really need to get some corny kegs. The bottles are my limiting reagent in making beer. I have been collecting them from family and friends. |
Art, I sit here drinking an IPA...

Cool! I'm going to brew a dunkel weisse and then make a cranberry mead for next year's Christmas gifts to family and friends as soon as I get motivated.
The best thing I ever did in my brewing hobby was doing a full boil (10 gallon kettle, King Cooker and natural gas outdoor burner) and using the Corny kegs. It's so much easier to get a batch ready to server, get it carbonated the way I want and the results have been outstanding! It helps that my friend owns an ice rink and he gave me 55 Corny kegs years ago. I traded and gave many away and I still have 22 that I use and I love them!! |
