From Wiki:
Billy Jack is a "half-breed" American Cherokee Indian Green Beret Vietnam War veteran, hapkido master, and gunslinger. The character made his début in The Born Losers (1967), a so-called "biker film" about a motorcycle gang terrorizing a California town; Billy Jack rises to the occasion to defeat the gang by defending from their wrath a college student who has evidence against them for gang rapes. The first film was considered the typical drive-in theatre fare of the period, described by Entertainment Insiders reviewer Rusty White as "pure exploitation, but with something extra." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Jack |

Why don't they air anymore? I vote because of PC. Plenty of crappy movies with bad stories air these days - just not so-called "exploitative" of half-breeds or otherwise Natives.
Did Shaft or Superfly ever air on TV? I can't remember...

Admittedly, I have to be pretty wasted to watch a movie like that all the way through.

Terrible movie. Stereotypical idealization of hippies and condemnation of good old boy locals.
Exploitation and manipulation of 70's liberal-types who were easily controlled. The force has a strong influence on the weak-mind. |

I suffered through the movie Tom Horn the other day hoping it would have a decent ending this time. Nope, still sucks. That's what happens when you try and make a movie that follows real life to close. Most folks don't even know there was a real Tom horn and he was a bad guy. Then there's the Magnificent Seven, the Devil's brigade, and the Dirty Dozen. movies don't get much better than that. People I work with look at me funny when I'm sitting in a meeting, humming the theme song for the magnificent seven. If I could just get those darned old movies to fit right on my plasma TV ........ The wife doesn't understand how I can sit there and watch Red Dawn over and over. She just doesn't get it. |

I liked it as well as Walking Tall, White Line Fever and any of the Smokey and the Bandit Films. Yes they were campy, semi-stupid but totally rerun worthy.

I remember when Billy Jack came out. All of us guys thought that was the coolest movie ever. Until Detective Harry Callahan arrived on the scene:
