You see a 911 wreck on the Hwy- what do you do?

You are driving down the road and a 911 wrecks up ahead of you.

Do you...

looneybin 08-19-2009 10:29 AM

scavenge the road for parts?

dtw 08-19-2009 11:00 AM

What size Fuchs? Any spoilers? 3.2 or larger?

pwd72s 08-19-2009 11:12 AM

You know, thinking about it, don't think I've ever seen that...just lucky, I guess.

Noah930 08-19-2009 11:18 AM

Parts. Particularly if it's got a healthy 3.6.

BZZZZZT! Wrong answer... all of ya.

The correct answer is...

Go over and give the guy a piece of paper with www.pelicanparts.com written on it.

Heh heh. :)

Only time I ever saw a wrecked 911, it was a 930, not long after they started selling them here. Guy wrapped it around a tree doing triple digits on Ethan Ave in Sacto, between Cal Expo and the movie theater. I was working at the theater, 17 yo, had talked to the guy earlier that evening. Car and driver were both in pieces, I was among first on scene, smelled like hot oil and blood. You don't appreciate how much blood is in a person until you see it in a puddle. I doubt if there was much to salvage from that car, driver's side door maybe.

i would like...want...no need a 930/02 or 930/52 crank case

So

A put out fire in the back if there is any

B
1 check driver to see if he's conscious
2 Make sure he's not

C get out my tools

This happened to me about 10 years ago. I was driving along a straight stretch of 280 near Belmont (CA) in heavy but fast traffic at night. I was in the fast lane, following a van. Suddenly, a maroon 911 appears out of nowhere in front of me, doing 360s from right to left. All Hell breaks loose. The van I was following rear ends the car in front of him, and the cars to my right start banging into each other.

I swerved my 1980 Scirocco onto the dirt shoulder, got a little sideways, but brought the car to a stop without hitting anything. As I was negotiating the shoulder, the rear end of the 911 slammed the K-rail right in front of me and came to rest in the fast lane. 6 cars were totaled. I felt like I was at Indy.

What I did was stay there until the cops came, and offered my account of what happened. Later, I testified in a deposition that the 911 caused everything that I saw happen. But I didn't see where the 911 came from in the slow lane, as my view had been blocked. The 911 driver said a car clipped his rear end, sending him into a spin, but the offending car kept going. I tend to believe him: how else do you lose it on a straight stretch of highway?

Now that's a +1 for sure.

Having a 914 there wouldn't be much left of the 911 after stripping it for parts.SmileWavy
