I just posted this in your feather board thread a few days ago but here it is again. I assume you either didn't use a feather board or you tried to make your own, or you tried to saw your wife's cat in half.

I still don't have a fingerprint on my left thumb. Burned through it on my dads table saw when i was 16.
Went so deep I could hold up my thumb and see light through my thumbnail.
It's a fun story when getting booked.

Nasty stuff there, guys. I drilled 1/2 way through my middle finger on my left hand several years ago with a 1/4" bit. There was a nerve or vein hanging out. My finger tip nerve is kind of dead now. Sorry no pics.

I used to have some good lawnmower injury slides, probably have them around some place. Not a bad looking set of thumbs. I bet they are all still working pretty well, and did not end up in a jar.

cliff you dumb arse! man oh man... i always love asking guys why they are missing a finger. yours will just be a bit deformed i reckon, might look like a bird talon when healed but not too noticable. i run across a lot of guys with missing fingers as an inspector. i always look closer at their work, shows carelessness.

glad it was not yer ring finger...

This thread brings up a strange thought to me-

Out of the countless injuries I've sustained over the years never once have I taken a picture of the wound, neither before nor after the ER. Just never thought about it.

Most likely because I was too busy try to stop the bleeding/reset the bone/extract the impaling item/not pass out.

Been working with power tools, in and around machine shops for three decades, not a single scar except for the knees and lower back (surgeries). Guess I've been lucky.

LOL there was an old saying in the millwrights, "you can always tell the Joes by their fingers and their toes".

I never did figure out exactly what a Joe was but I'm pretty sure it was derogatory.

oh, but I do! not one of a tablesaw encounter, but a fine example of surgury stitches after a fight between my lower leg and a mirror. might even be able to see part of the lawnmower bite also. same leg.. always the same damn leg

Well thank goodness you can't get your self with the backhoe since you're driving it. I'd hate to imagine the kind of damage one of those things could/would do.

Nice job there Cliff! Give it another couple of days when it starts tightening up and you will feel your heart beating in it. Lucky you didn't lose it.
I got lucky a few years back. I was building a box to ship something in and had to clearance one little spot. The RotoZip tool was the perfect answer till it caught and bounced off the top of one of my thumbnails. They remove flesh about as fast as you can feed it in.
