I love LA

I decide to take my 15 year old son on his first drive of Mulholland Highway.
We left our place around ten thirty with plans to go up the 405 to the 101 and pick up Mulholland where it starts it's westward journey to the the Pacific. We would take Mulholland to PCH and then go north and have lunch at Neptune's Net (he has never been there either). Neptune's is a great little food shack on the Pacific Coast highway that is a favorite for surfers, bikers and car nuts.
The weather was perfect, the 911 ran flawlessly and I had forgotten how beautiful the canyons can be. I'm usually watching traffic, the road, gauges etc that the last few times I guess I've ignored the scenery. My son Riley reminded me it's hard to believe all this rough beauty is in the middle of LA.
The best part, besides spending time with my son was the cars.
We saw, in no particular order, a half dozen Ferrari 430 Spiders, an old Dino, a 575 and a 599, an Audi R8, Ariel Atom, Ford GT40, a couple of Lambo Gallardo's and a Bugatti Veyron.
LA may suck some times but there are not to many other places to live where you and your son can jump in a car, drive the canyons, have some great greasy seafood by the Pacific, see some of the worlds greatest cars, watch some surf girls and be home in 2 hours.

Sometime I just love LA

Steve

I love L.A. too. One of my big awakenings in life was realizing that no place is perfect all of the time. Everywhere sucks sometimes, you just have to decide what matters to you in life and go from there. I'm a big city person and my life is in L.A. I'm in Minneapolis right now and it's beautiful here at the moment but I miss L.A. and my friends.

Glad you had a good day with your son, great post!

I'm partial to Reel Inn, though it is closer to civilization and can be really slow. Neptune's is the logical spot if you're up in the canyons. If you were on the north end of Mulholland there probably is a pic of your car:

LA is a special place despite the flaws. Last night we were up at Universal Amphitheater for the Steely Dan show. Universal City Walk is surreal, but what a show. About the most energetic LA crowd I've seen, and of course a lot of SD's music is written about LA.

My fun for the day is buying boxes and starting to pack for a move to Santa Monica while the broken-armed boy plays on the computer. I think you guys had a better day

Sounds like a memorable day, Steve... fun times... and that's quite an impressive list of machinery you guys saw.

Riley has a great sense of style... my oldest began to be into cool hats at that age, too. There wasn't a single second hand store around here he didn't know about.

Post more pix if ya got 'em... especially the if you were able to snap the GT40 or the Dino.

Sounds like a great car day!

BTW: I was searching for my car on Rockstore and saw this sequence that should be titled "Gloves are your friend" :
