BMW ix xi
I'm trying to figure out what's up with the 3 series BMW ix vs. the xi
Seems like the 1988 (US) to 1991 cars were called ix and had a viscous coupling. What is the xi??? |

The ix were the E30 (1988-1991) as you indicate. The xi are the E46 (1999-2004) and the current E90s.
I have an xi. I don't know how the transmission works.

It's not a viscous setup.
The xi models have a full-time four-wheel-drive gear driven transfer case by New Venture. Both diffs are open but have the anti spin. |
