I'd rather have my Golden Retreiver lick my face than some booger-picking idiot snotting all over what I'm eating. I know what goes into -- and out of -- my dog!
He's probably cleaner than I am! :p

I have eaten 'out' all over the world. It was always a pleasure to go to a great place, and have everything 'done right'. I just can't believe that this country has slid into the fourth world so quickly. Food service, the banking system, and health care are the indicators.

We have screwed the pooch on all three.

i'm a food ostrich. i dont want to SEE it happening. if i witness a food handling problem i will say something, or leave. but if not, ignorance is bliss. all part of the masterplan of keeping my germ phobia in check.

i have eaten from push carts in 3rd world countries. some of the most delicious, exotic flavors my tongue has ever had to process. love it.

when i have friends come over for dinner, i can blow thru half a roll of paper towels washing and drying my hands. i dont use repeat handdrying towels during food prep. drives my wife nuts.

Well then...

Most cooks use the same towels to wipe off the counters that they use to wipe their hands and your plate's edge, too.

Bon appetit!

I've worked in some of the best in Santa Cruz and Napa Valley. Believe me!

I've seen the Executive Chef walking on the countertops doing the Pee-Wee Herman 'Tequila Dance'...

There's a hot-@ssed waitress down at the local Sonic .... I would let put her fingers wherever she wanted...

In L.A., some restaurants have actually bought the "A" rating in their windows!

Did I ever tell you my Chinatown restaurant story?

Two guys were walking near one of the...um...dubiously sanitary Chinese eateries over near Ord Street, and noticed a whole mess of cats in a parking lot waiting beside a restaurant door. Creepy, no doubt. The guys went on, and happened to look inside a darkened restaurant (this was late at night - everything was closed at this hour). One guy says to the other, "What the ****, look at the floor! It's moving!" The other guy looks through the window, then says, "That's not the floor. Those are rats!" Hence the cats at the door.

I have a Brit friend who castigates waiters who grasp his plate as they hand it to him, instead of handing it to him from underneath by the fingertips a la very fine restaurants.

He says back in Wales and So. London, he's seen too many Indians pick their noses then rub their fingers on his chicken vendenu while handing him his dish.

I think I'll just barbecue for the dog and me, and let the family go out. Or drink enough Jameson, as was suggested earlier, to kill the pending infestation.

I'll take that over a night of driving the porcelain bus or wondering if I have swine flu. SmileWavy

I did that on the bar at TGI Fridays once, right before they kicked me out.
Those long island teas are great

Scene: Fine dining in La Jolla CA
Date: 1990 something
Time: 11:30 PM

Me (bartender) and a couple waiters dare a busboy $20 to take a large piece of bread (left over from customer meal), soak it in the end-of-evening dishwasher's station - 2" inches deep of "watery stuff", and eat it. The busboy lived to bus tables another day.

Is she by chance on Roller Skates? If so, then tell me please which Sonic this is.
This is fantasy material!
Got any pics?

i prefer to cook myself but i do eat out. i used to work in a pizzeria and i they set a garbage can on a table above a huge pot of tomato sauce. well i watched it get knocked into the sauce and promptly began taking it to throw away. the owner came over and scolded me and said "just pick out the large stuff that people can see" and watched as he served some to people. i quit soon after.

edit: also i used to pass time by betting the dishwasher to eat gross stuff i once bet him to eat a mushroom we found under the fridge or to lick the floors etc. i don't mind sharing food with the dog but i don't trust food workers.
