"GT Racer" on HD Theater
Looks like a good show, maybe only 4 episodes. Classic cars on the best racetracks. Premiers this Friday on Discovery's HD Theater.

Have a reminder on my phone to tune in. When i saw the commercial last week it was too early to set the DVR. Looks like it will be fantastic!
Mbrouder you'll find Discover is a better Speed Channel than Speed Channel itself.

I'd love to see these, but don't have that channel. If anyone is willing to burn them onto a DVD for me, I'd be happy to pay you for your trouble plus shipping.
If not, does anyone know whether they'll be available on DVD from Discovery?

Well it was certainly worth watching. Would've liked a broader spectrum of cars to follow and a more tech oriented bent. Definitely could do without the weird euro-club music as well.
Looked like a LOT of fun. The silver Jag was beautiful.

music was indeed annoying. Would have loved to seen more footage of other cars running, rather than the tight focus on the ones they picked. Sure- nice to follow the trials and tribulations of the teams, but there was sooo much more to Le Mans Classic than what we saw
Let's see what the carrera panamericana classica episode brings.

We had it shown here a couple of years ago, while good, it could have been a LOT better. The music is terrible, it doesn't tell you anything about the different tracks etc., not much insight into the cars. Bit of a wasted oppotunity imo. Highlight for me was the 2007 Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nurburgring as I was there.

Great show, considering what else there is to watch. I wish Speed would air more stuff like this. There were two cars I'm curious about. One was black with a large green stripe on the left fender. It was shown many times, just not for very long. It looked sort of like a 250 GTO, I'm curious what that was. The other was the 936 towards the end. Weren't there only 2 or 3 of those made?

When Ferrari announced that a new competition car was to be homologated (the 250 GTO) for competition, Count Volpi of Scuderia Serenissima tried to put in an order. He was rebuffed. So he took one of his 250 swb and had it customized to be lower,, lighter, and incorporating Dr Kamm's aero rear end. The car became known as the "breadvan" and was quite fast.
As with all older race cars, once it was obsolete, it was sold off. At one point it was painted dark blue. It was subsequently restored once collectors realized that this one off has significance in Ferrari history

Another show last night. I'd prefer a little more German and a little less English.

HD theater is a great channel, I just saw an advert on there for World Rally Championship coming October 4th!! I don't know if it is going to be just one show or the whole season...? Can't wait, when Speed stopped covering it, it was a new low.

Every Sunday at 8PM. WRC has some of the most outstanding production of any motorsports series. World Rally Madness Programming Block Sunday, October 4 from 3-9 PM ET 3 PM: GREATEST STAGES This episode profiles the most challenging events from the history of rallying. 4 PM: DARING DRIVES Viewers ride along as the legends of the WRC are pushed to the limit and beyond by some of the most spectacular and technical stages on the rally racing circuit. 5 PM: GREATEST CARS The machines are the stars of this episode, which showcases the greatest rally cars of all time. 6 PM: TOP TEN SPECTACULAR CRASHES Even the best make mistakes and in the WRC, those mistakes can be stunning. This program counts down the most exciting crashes in rallying history. 7 PM: 2009 WRC SEASON PREVIEW This episode introduces viewers to the drivers, manufacturers and events that will make up the 2009 FIA World Rally Championship. 8 PM: RALLY IRELAND The 2009 WRC kicks off with a monumental challenge: 217 miles of impossibly narrow, rain-slicked country roads through both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. These tight and serpentine stages take drivers through the Sligo Mountains and Fermanagh Lakelands where, in places, the narrow roads are little more than the width of a car. I've recently been re-watching the 2001-2004 events on Joost - they have over 80 hours of coverage in high-quality. http://www.joost.com/0197pq9/t/WRC-Channel
