Boat Shopping: Boating local islands. Twin screw? Beam?
So, there are a lot of good deals on boats and other toys out there. Wanting to get another boat, something I can take to the local islands. I'm looking at 26-30 foot cruisers. Chaparral, Sea Ray, etc are at the top of my list.
The 26-27 foot boats are 8.5 beams and single motor/drive, the larger ones get into 9.5' or 10' beams and twin motors/drives. Obviously the bigger the better. Two motors/drives = 2x the maintenance cost. However also get comforts such as AC, heat, generator, etc. What are you CA folks taking to the islands? I'll be going to Catalina, Santa Cruz, etc from Channel Islands harbor. Any other brands I must consider? I'm looking at 2002-2006 models. Thanks! -Brad
