Renault called into FIA over accident last year

Just on the Sky and BBC news that Renault has been summoned to the FIA HQ to "discuss things" regarding the accident last year that some say was staged to allow Alonzo (aka the blackmailer) to win.

This could get very interesting!

Ridiculous!

As David Coultard stated on numerous occasions, way to many people involved for something not to have leaked out by now.

Nelson Piquet would have leveraged this when going ballistic on Flavio for being blown out from the team as well.

This is all about a Ferrari driver (Massa) who felt slighted by the incident, confronting Flavio and not getting the answer he wanted from Flavio, then the Ferrari luvin FIA steps in and begins this "investigation".

The FIA has it out for Renault (probably due to the Flavio factor) as evidence by the recent "ban" / "non-ban", then fine for Alonzo's wheel coming off.... What sanctioning body fines a team for.....Oh never mind

We'll see where this goes....

Put away your tin foil hat and your copy of conspiracy theory, this has to do with a driver's statement. No conspiracy, no favoritism, no bias, just a statement from a former renault driver that says he was ordered to cheat by his team.
A driver for renault says that he was instructed to crash his car. He says he crashed his car under team orders to help his team mate.
Ferrari has nothing to do with it. the FIA has absolutely no choice but to investigate.

Either it's true or he's making it up.
If he's making it up his racing career is over unless he goes to NASCARP.
Sour grapes is a weak argument, it's too damaging to both renault and him, so I don't think he's dumb enough to make it up.

I don't know one way or the other but just based on deductive reasoning and human nature, it would be more likely that it is true than it is made up.

Reasoning makes for a better argument than emotion.

Ok, fair enough, we'll have to wait and see the outcome from the investigation... no tin foil hats here...

where did you get the information that Nelson stated he was instructed to crash?

I haven't been able to find that yet.

Not sure that even a "drivers statement" would do it.

My gut tells me that Piquet has to have some other proof other than "I was told to do so" or the FIA would not be going this far.

I smell something really fishy here. The FIA has access to the radio transmissions. There should be something... maybe code... on the radio that is the order to Nelson.

Also, why would Flav can Nelson if he knew that Nelson could possibly rat him out over this? Doesn't make sense to me. Flav can't be that dumb.

Hmmm, it was all over planetF1 last weekend but I go there now and don't see the article that claimed Nelson Piquet Jr admitted to being ordered to crash. Very strange. It said that Piquet came right out and said that renault gave him the order to crash.
I know it was there.
So why did they pull it? Dunno.
maybe the source was weak, maybe they jumped the gun and called a rumor fact?
Maybe it is time for a tin foil hat

An unattributed quote from an Fchat post:

"Felipe Massa suspected Nelson Piquet crashed deliberately at Singapore last year and confronted Flavio Briatore about the incident in person, it has emerged.

It had been presumed in recent days that the source of the accusation must have been Piquet and his famous father, still furious after being recently ousted by Renault boss Briatore. But reports this week suggest that Massa immediately suspected that Piquet had been asked to crash on purpose so that the safety car would emerge and the sister Renault of Fernando Alonso would win the race.

"He crashed in a very strange way," TV Globo commentator Reginaldo Leme is quoted as saying. "It struck me when I was talking recently with Felipe Massa. Felipe had gone to Briatore and said, 'This crash was not right, it happened because you wanted it to'."

Leme also said other drivers had been suspicious of the Piquet crash.

Massa had led comfortably from pole position in Singapore last September until the Piquet safety car, but when he made his pitstop he then famously drove away with the fuel hose still attached. He lost the championship to Lewis Hamilton by a single point."

The F1 cesspool is abuzz . . .

Saw that one but there was another claiming that piquet admitted to it.
Gone now, may have been BS.
