Nelson, British Columbia. Familiar?

Happened to watch the movie Roxanne with Steve Martin the other night. Seen it before and even though I am not a huge fan of Steve Martin, I think this is one of his best movies.

Anyway, the scenery in the film struck me as so beautiful I had to Google the location. Turns out Steve Martin chose Nelson in British Columbia for its nice elderly ambiance and cool fire station.

Anyone living near or familiar with Nelson? It looks absolutely brilliant in the photos. Stunning nature, wild and romantic. Beautiful architecture. Reminds me of places in the Norwegian archipelago.

Been there several times, some of the best roads for driving anywhere. Many long, narrow lakes in the area, referred to as the: "Arrow Lakes" (long and narrow like an arrow).

If I recall, Nelson was settled by Russian immigrants that mined silver and planted the orchards. Nelson was the City of choice for Draft Dodgers during the Viet Nam war. That kind of led to a liberal, free-thinking region today.

I have been several times as well. Great area to be in if you like to be outdoors. Great camping, hiking, fishing and mountain biking.
The town is very cool and laid back.
I haven't had the Porsche out there yet but the roads would be great for it.

All of BC is pretty and very diversified as far as scenery goes but the whole interior region is nice, often take the wife and kid on driving trips through this part of the province, the wife takes the Honda with my son and one of his buddies, I take the 930 and wait for them at various locations, decent mountain roads and not much traffic makes for great long weekends.

Thanks, guys. It really looks like my kind of place. Not too big, enclosed in beautiful wild nature and easy going.

I just got back from a 2000km Sourthern BC tour through there with the Porsche and the bride. That part of the province offers some of the finest driving roads to be found anywhere on the planet.

Wonderful. Thanks for the great pics, guys!

What are the odds these days for a retarded, retired Swedish fart to get permission to spend the rest of his days in Canada?

If you'd ever been to Vancouver, the answer to that question is: PERMISSION GRANTED.....(Somebody left the gate open)

Markus,
Just tell immigration that you are a doctor and you are in....
Or tell them you are a fluffer and you're in....
What ever works for you.
