Do as I say, Not as I do - A Wii question

I constantly remind my girls to use the wrist strap on the Wii controllers so they won't get damaged by an inadvertent toss. The response is always, "yea, we know dad, you've told us a million times". So, the other day I was playing Wii with the wife and kids and after rolling a ball that I knew would be a perfect strike, I watched in amazing slow motion as the remote flew from my hand and came crashing down from its acquired altitude of 14' onto the tile floor, shattering into a fragmented mess. There was a brief moment of silence followed be a chorus of laughter that lasted in reality minutes, but felt like hours. Pointing at me with tears coming out of their eyes, words not spoken, just laughter, pointing at their wrists and pointing at the dead remote fragments on the floor, more laughter. Then I said it... "Do as I say, Not as I do". Flashbacks of my dad saying the same thing came rushing back to me and I joined the laughter.

Any how, now we can't get what was the #1 remote to turn on after putting it back together (probably needs replaced). The #2 remote won't "connect" without the #1 alive. Do I have to buy 2 new controllers? Can I make the old #2 controller the new#1 controller and just buy a replacement for the old #1 controller?

Don't you just hate it when that sort of thing happens!

Could have been worse, at least it didn't end like this.

Thanks Guys
How do I get the old #2 controller to talk to the Wii box as the new #1 controller? The girls can't use it at all the way it is.

Take the batteries out of the first controller, it may be trying to connect as 1. Turn the wii off and the controller 2 off, turn it all back on and the good controller should automatically connect at #1.

LOL! tapping the broken plasma TV is definitely NOT going to fix it.

you should be able to get the other remote to work, as schumi said. at least you had a sense of humor about it. that goes a long way with your kids, for sure.
