Why I hate Craigslist (rant, but funny)

So, I'm selling a boat due to lack of time. The ad is very descriptive-here:http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/boa/1329090298.html

I get this inquiry: Hi

I'd VERY much like to have a full list of all equipment to view, from the electronics, safety gear, operational gear, charts... anything that you can think of. I'd need this in order to be sure I'm comparing "apples to apples" with respect to different boats.. AND to assess what I might need to pick up. Your suggestions as to that would be welcome.

Does this still come with a slip I can rent by any chance?... and if so... any restriction on living aboard there? Parking for one pick up truck?

To which I reply: Assuming this is a cut and paste email, as all of this was answered in the ad, so without being rude, I'm not going to reply. As to your last question yes, yes, and yes. You could likely live aboard if you paid electric, now its free.

To which he sends back:
It WAS rude

And it was NOT a cut and paste email...
Read this AGAIN!
Your posting DID NOT FULLY answer what has been asked for.

But... no matter

Go f**k yourself

.. and eat your boat

And THIS is not a cut and paste email either!

You may want to keep this message string...
You may even want to frame it....

And then... consider placing your boat with a broker.
YOU are the very reason that THERE ARE brokers....
Because lame brain *******s like you...
pick fights with the very people they are trying to SELL something to!!!

SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE!

I this case Greg.... you shot yourself SQUARELY in the foot....

I WAS.... VERY much interested in your boat....
and I have about 15 times that amount... in my checking account!

Enjoy your boat Greg
I have a feeling that you will have it for a VERY long time!

Like wow, so he has a 150k...

Maybe I need a thicker skin, but I get one or two emails a week asking about stuff like "I don't see a gps in the ad, does it have one?" in response to an ad that lists every bit of equipment on the boat in excruciating detail.

Probably a 14-year-old kid just sitting around bored.

FeeBay is just as bad. You wouldn't believe the idiotic questions I've gotten on there... CL used to be something of a haven from such stupidity, but it's pretty clear that the Internet - once something of a safe haven - has been infiltrated by the onslaught of idiots in everyday society.

One of the reasons I find myself spending less and less time online - with the possible exception of Pelican.

The people I know that really have money never talk about it. Someone that brags that they have 150 grand in their checking account likely does not have 150 bucks. It is probably some 14 year troll.

Craigslist is rampant with freaks, flakes and scammers in my limited experience. I prefer the smaller targeted boards, or even ebay, where it's at least easier to identify the dain bramaged.

I'm interested; does your boat float ? I didn't see that mentioned in the ad.

Do you think your boat could get a few men and equipment quietly into a shipyard?
You should have mentioned it in your ad.

nice ad fairly complete
one major data missing is the year boat was built
price guides all list boats by year just like cars
and age is a big bit of market value
same boat built 05 maybe worth 3x same boat built in 79

also no mention of if boat is state titled or fed reg doc
as I see no numbers on the bow maybe fed doc

Please email a list of what this boat does NOT include...

When I sold my Ducati I skipped past about 5 e-mails that said thinks like:

"Yo, text me your number. I want your bike, I gotz billz- Kdawg."

and responded to the one that said:

"Hello, I would like to set up a time to come and see your Ducati Monster. I am a cash buyer. Thank you, Heather"

Wigger speaking ebonics = no bike for you.

If you need cash, I have a foolproof method of doubling your take-home salary available. Please contact me ASAP because I have only a few spaces available in my next session.

that's pretty funny.

I had a spare engine and trans listed on CL, and got an e-mail from a guy that wanted to buy it. But he wanted me to come along with him and help him remove his engine and put in the new one. I wouldn't really mind that if he threw in a 6er or something, but he lived 4 hrs aways! It was a $500 engine, but gosh.

Greg: here's what i do, in my original post, I say "you need to come out and actually see / touch the "item" after they've done that, then we'll talk about the sale. Otherwise, i just delete the dumbasses.

Steve
