Sideways "Not the Cheese"!
 

I don't know why, but I love this movie. Lines from one of my favorite scenes below..... Got to rent this again!


Miles Raymond: Let me show you how this is done. First thing, hold the glass up and examine the wine against the light. You're looking for color and clarity. Just, get a sense of it. OK? Uhh, thick? Thin? Watery? Syrupy? OK? Alright. Now, tip it. What you're doing here is checking for color density as it thins out towards the rim. Uhh, that's gonna tell you how old it is, among other things. It's usually more important with reds. OK? Now, stick your nose in it. Don't be shy, really get your nose in there. Mmm... a little citrus... maybe some strawberry...


Miles Raymond: ... passion fruit...

Miles Raymond: ... and, oh, there's just like the faintest soupçon of like asparagus and just a flutter of a, like a, nutty Edam cheese...

Jack: Wow. Strawberries, yeah! Strawberries. Not the cheese...

I've found myself watching a lot of Paul Giamatti movies lately. He does dry humor pretty well. Cold Souls, while not as great as I had hoped, was still very good.

If anybody orders Merlot I'm leaving. I'M NOT DRINKING ANY &*^$%* MERLOT!!!!

No, the best line was when Miles went to the store and bought the Barely Legal. "No, I'm sorry. I meant the latest issue."

My favorite line came after Miles went through a long dissertation on the delicate skin of the Pinot grape and a long explanation about how to taste each nuance, as they were each tasting and swishing. Finally, the entire monologue ends and Miles looks at Jack, leans forward a bit and says....."are you chewing gum?"

Yeah! I enjoyed watching that movie.

That is one movie that I just did not get!

I LOVED that movie, I just thought Sideways was a differnt sort of movie.

Different yes. Interesting that there is no reference to the title whatsoever in the movie. The meaning is open to interpretation.
