Watkins Glen Vintage races 2009

My wife and I went to Watkins Glen for the 2009 vintage race weekend. We had a great time, met some really cool people and saw some great cars from all makes and era's. Here are a few pics. I took nearly 1800 photos over the weekend so it will take some time to sort through the good and bad but here are few Friday to start. I hope you enjoy. The featured marque was Morgan to celebrate their centennial.

The fastest car of the weekend. I do not believe it needs an introduction?

Stay tuned more to come.

Thanks for taking the time to post those, drcoast... great shots.

My favorites are the racers, but I gotta say... that Allard, Jag, and Caddy ragtop are major stunners. Wow.

Looks like you liked the Allard. Now that is a he-man car to drive let me tell you with some very interesting handling. Originally, raced with 3-speeds. Gobs of torque. Hell you can run it in 3rd gear all day long and treat is like an automatic, but what is the fun in that. That green one looks like one of the repro or continuation series that are out there. Now the bare aluminum one? Sexy.

Heel n Toe- lots more racers coming your way. I just need to sort through the photos.

t6dpilot- the Allard is a he-mans car for sure and one of my favorites of the weekend. The Green car is a replica but cool none the less. The silver car is real as I am sure you guessed. This car raced at Watkins Glen in the 1950's the exact date escapes me.

BTW anyone that is interested NJMSP in Milville NJ is having a vintage race the weekend of October 1 many of these cars will be there. I am sure it will not be on the scale of Watkins Glen but should still be a good event.

msailer,

Good guess. It is actually set up as a camper. The windows have been removed and replaced with a black plastic with the exception of the hatch. The front end of the car was removed and the new front added which is hollow. There is a mattress and bedding covering the floor.
