Address Change with Post Office

Since when does the USPS mandate that all address changes be done online, with a credit card? WTF? I can no longer fill out the form in person at the post office? I HAVE to give a credit card now, when changing my address? Granted, they only charge a dollar, but seriously, WTF is up with that?

Since they heard you were moving :p

Granted I have a computer and a credit card, but there are certainly people who don't have one or the other. What are they supposed to do?

Did the local PO tell you this?

Damned good question.

Try a different post office, tell them you don't have a computer. It would be interesting to hear their answer.

I'm probably overly security conscious. I've yet to post a credit card number online. When amazon said I could no longer pay by check, they lost me as a customer.

Liz went to the PO to get a form, today. All that was there was a slip of paper (instead of the traditional address change form) telling her to go online to do the deed.

Ahhh, so if you go to the same post office, they won't know who you are? Yeah...lie,say "no computer"...

You could open an account and get a debit card-->transaction-->close account, but that still doesn't answer your question.

Seriously, WTF. Talk to a supervisor and document. Mabye they were out of those forms(?)

If you have a Citibank CC, they have a program that will create a CC # that is valid for one use only. See if you can do something like that. I think the one dollar charge is a way of cutting down on fraudulent address changes, although this opens up other ways to commit fraud.

Yes, that online form is at the post office, I saw them, but you can also go to the window and do it in person.

No charge.

Did it last week. Mail is being forwarded.
