unattractive slant nose kit.
Those look like 911 bumpers.
you're sure it's not a fiero?
I may have to go look at it. Its got a 914 interior. dude wants 2500. I'm broke so thats a no go. Not that I'd want the basterd anyways.
That is a Chalon 930S kit pn the 914.
Whats it worth Its a 74
The stripes and or the the camera angle make the car look bent.
Thinking I may go take some better pictures tomorrow and see how it runs/what his bottom dollar is. May be ugly but it would still be a good autocrosser.
slant nose kit, and 911 bumpers.... It looks like it has been sitting in that grass for a bit of time, I would be weary of rust.
I am weary of rust in any 914.
Byron is correct. It is the mitcom chalon kit installed on a 914. In the 70's Allen Mittelman found a customized 914 that was the basis of the Chalon. He brought the car to AIR in burbank to modify and productionize the parts for making a kit.
Remember that the 914 was (still is?) considered a basic box design that the Datsun Z's of the time easily eclipsed in terms of style. So a fair amount of 914 owners wanted something more contemporary The "original" Chalon is still in silver, black and striped splendor in Alan's care |

But i have a good one. :p |

Are those stripes or gaps in the fiberglass panels???
Almost everything that was once in style or popular will become popular again, given enough time.
The Chalon kit isn't one of them. |
I had a 71 with a Chalon kit. Most of the cars I have seen are bad about cracking where the fenders and quarters are glassed to the car. I like them. not eveyone does. I know when I had mine I got compliments on it everytime we drove it and people were always taking pictures of it. The only thing I hated about it was every third or 4 th person would ask me if it was a kit car. But then again I had some fool ask me if my 911 was a kit car so there ya go.
check the right side frame area where the battery tray should be or once was. They are bad about rusting there. I will try to post some pictures |
This car was white when I got it. I wasnt crazy about this spoiler but I put it back on since the deck lid was drilled for it

Actually that is one of the best ones I've ever seen.
Thanks for the compliment, I did all of the work myself and kept the car as stock as I could while doing so. I will try to find another pic or two
here are 3 more...sometimes I do miss this car. It was a blast to drive. I had a 2.0 in it with dual webers.

The Chalon seems more awkward in white, is better in darker colors. I think the Chalon looks better than the stock 914. The factory rear wheel openings and the front fender parking light 'butresses' are just terrible elements. A black targa bar and top (like racerbvd's - maybe his is a 'vert) also helps the lines. Some are really not bad, kmhemi's looks good... well, the rear spoiler sort of spoils it... ha |
I'd like one, just like kmhemi's without the wing. They are neat looking, like a tiny 930.
A 930 powerplant would be a good addition now that I think about it... |

Hehe. Byrons has been chopped.
I'd like to investigate taking Byron's approach, chopped, with a Chalon kit, and a 911 Cab convertible top fitted.

Better to be wary of rust... |
I think they look as good or better than a regular 914. As stated, the color and stripes of the one in the 1st post are what ruin it.
Byron:
Is that a Beach Boy's Racing body kit? |
I have a Chalon kit that I took off of a parts car, if anyone is interested. It's located in Southern Maine.
Front fenders, rear Qts., front & rear bumpers and rockers. |
Someone buy Fud's kit and get busy....Any idea what kind of price you are asking for your kit? I wanted to put a set of Fuchs on my Chalon but sold it before I got a set. That would look good if you could get deep ones to fill up the fender flares.

The aftermarket produced chassis sheet metal reinforcement pieces for good reason. The chassis metal, afaik, is thin and as well all know, susceptible to corrosion.
