"Julie & Julia"

I liked this movie. Meryl Streep is great as Julia Child and Amy Adams is cutely hot as Julia Powell. Streep resembles her character quite well, Adams does not.

I've never actually owned "Mastering The Art Of French Cooking", Child's seminal cookbook. I think I will have to go out and get a copy. Even though my current project is Chinese cooking. Apparently lots of people feel the same way - the book is on the bestseller list, selling far more than it ever has done since its first printing in 1961.

I took a few minutes to read bits of the Julie/Julia blog which is still online. Yes, the movie is a true story. Looks kind of interesting - but why does she have to swear so much? Do repeated "F_ck" words add anything to a story? When are we going to get past the ethos of the "angry blogger", who's real because she's profane?

I like it also - went to see it with one of my friends who is a really good cook (the really good gf/cook being insane at the time), but wh has not volunteered to cook her way thru the book yet...
