Price check...various semi-auto/"assault" rifles and accesories

Forgive the "assault" rifle nomenclature. A close personal associate is considering liquidating a variety semi-auto (and a few SKS's) long guns.

Just need ball park estimates of prices for private sale. E.g.:

M1 Garrand in .308 (Navy gun?) set up for competition distance shooting..also another surplus Garrand
Various AR-15's, some NIB, 100 round drum magazines, several 30 round clips
Various M1 carbines in .30 cal, some NIB (don't know brands)
AK47's (10K rounds of surplus ammo)
SKS's
MAC 10/9's (?) and various "grease gun"/UZI variants

All pre-ban weapons...anybody got a source for fair pricing?

Forgive me for my ignorance since I'm not much of a follower of these types of weapons.

I need a bit more specific info. otherwise just generalities apply.

AK can go from 500 to 1700 depending on the variety

M1 Carbines can go from 400 to 5000 depending on variety. Recently a US Paratrooper picked up during the Battle of the Bulge went for 4750.

ARs from 700 to 2500 depending on variety and maker

And then M1 Garand if it is TRULY a Navy trophy rifle 1800 to 2500... I think I have seen a real Navy go for substantially more reently? I think 3500 rings a bell? Standard imported surplus Garands 450 to 800.

MAC 10 700 to 1000 is my guess.

Details on the AR's?

All the stuff you mentioned doens not interest with the exception of the Navy Garand. For that I need serial No. and marking on barrel that can be seen in the slot when the bolt is drawn back.

These can be faked easily...that is the problem with Garands they are mix and match parts where most of them have been rebuilt at one time or another.

That is why finding an absolute original is so difficult and gets expensive to purchase.

Of interest ot me are the very high serial numbered Springfield Garands 5,800,000 plus. Most of these were made in small runs as Trophys, National Match or Special interest guns. They had a lot of care when manufactured, however because they were built during the mid 1950's and are not wartime Garands they do not command the same dinero as the WW2 ones do. Also orginality is more likely with these guns as they were not subjecte to as much abuse as those they were in combat.

starting around 1954 Springfield Arsenal in MA started making Type 1 NM Garands, the only marking is an NM on the left side at the front of the barrel. One really need to check the serial No. and the date on the barrel to check for authenticity. These were usually shot for a season or two by the military teams and sent back to the arsenal for rebuilding.

In the early 1960's a Type II NM Garand was being made mostly out of the Tpye I's when they were being rebuilt. They will have a special sight apeture, various NM marked parts, barrel etc. And when checking the marking on the barrel will have a early 1960's date.

Now the problem with these Garands is that all those NM parts were readily available to the public to build their own..Thats why govt paper work is so important for authenticity and value.

BEWARE OF PUT TOGETHERS

Does your buddy have a bolt action Remington 700 in that collection Dueller?

I bet you'd get a pretty honest estimate of $ if you list the collect in detail. Lots of gun collectors on here that are not zealots like you might find on the various forums who think something is gold just because they like the brand.

If you have a Colt AR-15, I would be interested. PM sent.

Mac 10's
wide variety of these. Three things will determine value. First is whether its an open bolt weapon or a closed bolt. semi auto or full and last is brand name. The Original macs were Ingram, There were others after that MAC, SWD, Cobray and Masterpiece arms come to mind. Really need more information on those. I try to keep up with the SMG market. Same thing for UZI, open bolt or closed. Uzi model A's will demand a higher price than the B models. They are also made is compact style or pistol. Now any FULL auto will require a Class 3 stamp ..I think its 200 bucks. I suspect the ones you are looking at are all semi auto. now the confusing part...open bolt semi auto, very good collector item...just because a firearm is open bolt does not mean its full auto, they can be either.
If you want to get more info on the Mac's and similar items I can help you get very good idea what they are worth and a fair price to expect to pay. Others here are very knowledgeable as well. Joeaska and Sniper come to mind.
