VirtualBox from Sun Micro.

Open Source = FREE!

Not quite as many bells and whistles as VM Ware or Parallels but for the price who cares.

Good solution for you guys who have always wanted to fart around with the various Linux distros out there but don't have or don't wan't to dedicate a box to it.

Never used ESXi, I do use VM Wares Fusion.

I believe ESXi is based around the concept of a virtualization server that clients can attach to vs single machine host and usage, non network dependent environment. But don't quote me on that.
