Illinois % Ticket Issued after Stop
My town is fourth from bottom! I like that. The top of the list..Mazon is a small town of 1000 with one main road running through it. That road (Rt 47 for the locals) is heavily used by college students going from the west suburbs down to various schools in central and southern Illinois. I have pass through Mazon hundreds of times, but knowing that it was not going to end well if I got stop, I always slow down.
I once witness racial profiling by Mazon'z finest. Young black guy was driving a 80-ish BMW E30 immediately ahead of me. We were both going the speed limit and maintaining safe distance. No one was driving erratically and there was no probable cause (middle of day, full visibility, no lights needed or on), but as soon as the cop saw the guy behind the wheel, on came the lights. I felt bad for the guy. Guess Mazon needs to pay for their PD somehow... ![]() http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/beaconnews/news/1783002,2_1_AU22_TICKETS_S1-090922.article Agency Percent ticketed Mazon 100.00 Maple Park 100.00 Gilberts 99.91 Kane Co. I'm nasty enough, I'd have hung around...telling the guy he had a witness if needed.

Paul, I was young and a lot more selfish than I am now. But you are right, at my current age I would probably be more inclined to pull over and wait to see how things progress...and see...

You'd probably wind up with a ticket of your own, for your troubles. No good deed...

One time i was following my uncle to a place up the mountains and a cop pulled out and pulled him over, swerving right in front of me to tailgate his bumper. Not knowing the way, i pulled over about 50 feet behind the cop, and waited. The nerve of me, i got a ticket too. Obstruction of the highway IIRC. |

you may not always win, but like any fight, you can often make them wish to hell they had not started an illegal 'fight'
here is an example from my own area: the feds (US Fish & Wildlife; USFS, BLM, & DOJ) keep files on which groups will sue their a$$ - I have seen copies of those files, and am proud to say that we are on it. They will diss groups that won't fight back; but are more careful if you are on their list... even tho we are quite mild on the issues compared to others.
