Toyota says California guaranteed repayment for training at NUMMI; They want it back!
I'm not agape that Toyota wants it back.
I'm amazed that State of California guaranteed repayment of training monies spent knowing that the NUMMI plant was probably doomed. Auto production costs at NUMMI in Fremont were highest anywhere in USA. Geez, who coulda missed that? |

Throughout its history, NUMMI has worked hard to create a unique corporate culture that borrows from Toyota, General Motors and the nearby Silicon Valley environment. NUMMI's collaborative partnership with the United Auto Workers has been the topic of numerous labor relations studies. The company's core values are based on five cornerstones: teamwork, equity, involvement, mutual trust and respect, and safety.
![]() www.nummi.com Ford plants in Long Beach and Pico Rivera = gone. GM plant in Van Nuys = gone. California is not a particularly friendly manufacturing locale given its onerous taxes and draconian environmental regulations. vash- trust your friend will rebound quickly. |
