anyone eperience Nissan Quest and Toyota Sienna?
Between Nissan Quest and Toyota Sienna. I am thinking of around 2007, 2008. Anyone own, or know both of them to give me opinions?
Reliable? I know Sienna is reliable. How about Quest? Gas mileage? Maybe Quest cost a little more, by how much? Maintenance cost? Maybe nothing for Sienna. How about Quest? Parts availability? Second hand pricing. Maybe Quest is better. Anything else to add? Thanks.

Buy a 2007-up Sienna (newer drivetrain) or a 2008-up Quest (lots of little changes)
The Quest is 'quirky' so some love it, some hate it. The seats fold flat, unlike the Sienna, but in a way that still allows comfortable seats and quiet interior (unlike Stow-N-Go) The Quest's 3.5L VQ V6 is the same as in a Maxima, G35, 350Z, Altima, et al. One of the best engines out there. Timing chain, same as the Toyota. Maint costs should be equal. The Quest handles better and rides about the same. Gas mileage within 1 mpg. The Quest is literally thousands less, depending on how they're equipped. |

Last weekend we bought a 2010 Sienna to replace the 2005 Pacifica both of us hated Awesome van. On the way to trade in the Pacifica, i took my track tires to get flipped...crammed them ever which way in the back of the Pacifica. Yesterday I picked them up in the sienna. They fit in the well behind the 3rd row standing up with room to spare. So much room in this thing.
We drove the Quest a couple of years ago and i was odd shaped and quirky. Nissan's have *****ty resale. We owned two mid-90's Nissans and they both sucked and turned us off to more of them. (Though the big SUVs are nice looking...). If you want specifics on the one week old Sienna, let me know.

Thank to all responses. We have a lot more toyota then Nissan and lately we are all into toyota. I know toyota is very reliable but also it keep it's value high, while I am looking for second hand. Nissan is not lower in price but if the car is a year or so older, price reduce a lot more.
Question: 2 people mentioned quirky. What quirky means? Kaisen, Do you know what year Quest has timming chain? and do you know if Quest can be as "free maintenance" as the Sienna? This is what I love about the Sienna. Thanks guys.

The wife had a sienna, great vehicle. We used it on trips, towing waverunners, always worked fine and drove well, no problems.
I loved it but she wanted an SUV. |

I felt like I was sitting on the living room sofa (minus the TV and beer). I hated the layout/look of the controls.

soft... like sitting on the sofa? (regarding the seat)
Or steering wheel is... too loose too smooth, like having too much power steering wheel?

yeah yeah, I heard that. Most ladies want SUV because... it's is an SUV and because most people are driving it now.
My family members have siennas and I like them for family van too. But recently I found that second hand Quest can be cheaper therefore I have this feeling. If they are the same regarding cost of owning, why not. If they are.

Isn't the Nissan the one thatthe engine exhaust whistles? I have heard it do it in other countries as well, must be an exhaust thing. Can't hear it inside the car.

All 3.5L Quests (2004-up) have timing chains, not belts. All 3.5L Siennas (2007-up) also have chains, but the older ones have belts.
There is no required maintenance that would make the Toyota or Nissan different in costs. |

We have a 07 Sienna limited. I tell you this, I love this thing. Rides great and plenty of power. Gas milage is aroung 16-19 hwy. I don't know what it is in the city. We just fill it when it goes empty. No problems so far and I should not have any for a long time given the experience with Toyotas. I have always had one or two around. Drove to Seattle 3 -4 months back and did not feel tired at all after long hours of driving. Very comfy.

Why not look at the Odyssey. King of the minivans.
The Sienna is nice but drives like a boat. Ody has a car-like feel to it. |

I had an '04 Sienna for three years and now an '07 Odyssey. When shopping for the Sienna, I also drove the Quest. Reason I picked the Sienna over the Quest at the time was the steering. The Quest (my opinion) had very numb steering, though I liked the fold down middle seats and the center column.
Between the Sienna and the Odyssey, the Sienna is very soft and quiet. The Odyssey on the other hand, is a bit stiffer but louder. Transmission in the Odyssey is definitely not as smooth during downshift as the Sienna. I wanted another Sienna the second time around, but the wife wanted wanted an Odyssey. Can't go wrong with any of them. All pretty reliable. Just your own personal preference. I think Toyota is coming out with a new Sienna soon. |
