That's just it... he indicated that he wanted a 4-door... and I'm sure you know what 4-door Miatas are going for these days.

There's no such thing as a cheap 951. This may be the worst advice in this entire thread.

Just sayin'.

Wait a minute, you want a four door, four seat now?

I like the mid-80s BMW 535i for $2K, you are pretty wrenchy so if you pick well, $3K should get it fixed up nicely.

I just bought this for $1,100

Of course, I have a '74 in the garage that is 100% complete and it will become the donor car in my restoration project. My only expense will be painting the shell (which I am going to do in my garage) and varous powder coating. I'm pretty certain that I will come in under the 5K mark.....

I'm gonna make it look like this:

So far I am happy with my E30, although its not exactly stock

The only issues I've had so far was an A/C compressor that gave out, and electrical weirdness that turns out to have been a previous owner issue.

Find a nice E30 325 with some mild suspension upgrades and have fun.

The biggest help is the fact that I use Zaino Bros show car polish. Dirt/mud doesn't really stick.

But mostly because I tread lightly and just roll through the mud with light throttle. My friend and I were looking for his cows on 40 acres. That trail takes you to the back of the property. If we went through there just tearing it up it would really make a mess of the trail.

Here is a shot of the Jeep at the end of the trail where we found the cows back by the lake- not much dirt stuck!

Since you already have a four-door (Cherokee), I'd still opt for the CJ-7 (or YJ) for your trail vehicle.

I'm liking the Speed Triple suggestion as well... I've lusted after these since 1994 when they came out.

I'm set for fast cars & snow/towing, so I'd go for a 4-door for us & the in-laws. Probably an old Jag, BMW or Merc- or maybe a Caddy.

I would buy a LR Discovery, but my wife said she'll divorce me if I buy another Land Rover!
